OK, I SENT IN REGISTRATION FOR 4 FOALS. 2 OF EACH FROM SAME SIRE. ONE WHICH I REALIZE COMES BACK THAT NEEDS TO BE DNA'D BEFORE FOALS CAN BE REGISTERED. BUT ONE OF THEM CAME BACK THAT I DIDN'T EVEN OWN THE MARE, THAT SOMEONE ELSE DID, AND I HAVE THE PERMANENT PAPERS IN MY NAME, ALSO THAT THE FOAL, SIRE AND DAM HAS TO BE DNA. WHICH I UNDERSTAND THAT ALSO, THIS FOAL TO ME RIGHT NOW WOULD MAKE A GREAT GELDING OR PET, SO RATHER THAN SPEND ALL THAT MONEY ON DNA TESTING FOR ALL I HAVE LOWERED HIS PRICE WITH JUST AMHR PAPERS. I CALLED AND ASKED AMHA TO CREDIT THE REGISTRATION OF THE ONE FOAL TOWARDS THE DNA TESTING OF THE STALLION.

THERE ANSWER SORRY WE DON'T REFUND MONEY. I REALLY WASN'T ASKING FOR A REFUND, JUST TO CREDIT IT TOWARDS THE DNA COST OF THE SIRE FOR THE OTHER FOAL WHICH OF COURSE IS THE SAME SIRE. NOPE, SORRY NO CREDIT NO REFUND.

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE REALLY BEEN UPSET WITH AMHA. I GUESS THEY DON'T GIVE REFUNDS FOR ANY REASON.

Keep in mind they have some new programs and are updating some stuff, and that may be the reason for the mixup. I would give them a call and explain and I am sure they will help you out.

surely they told you wrong?? Dont be like me and give up sandy. Call and talk to someone higher up the ladder. I have never heard of them keeping money for work they refused??

I had it happen to me but in fairness to AMHA it was years ago at least 10 and I was stuck in the middle of a different nightmare with seller and the registry only I didnt know it..

A horse wasnt on a stallion report had to be DNA'd he didnt match the dam but did match the sire- they wanted me to DNA every mare on the stallion report. I told them NO WAY there was like 20 mares and at this point all over the place.... I never did get my application money back or credited

Guess this was something going on with the seller obviously on more then just my horse and AMHA was taking a stand.. I just happened to get caught in the middle

I don't think they will give you a refund. I was told yesterday by AMHA that there were no refunds also. I did not bring up the "credit on account" issue. They do have a few new people that have given me incorrect information just recently and the person who called me yesterday did apologize for that and said it would be corrected. By all means, if you speak to someone there, I was told to above all get the name of the person in case you were told incorrectly......

Let us know how this is resolved...it would be interesting to know.

I'm sure there is some mis-understanding going on, and will be well worth your time to get clarified. As far as getting the mare DNA'd, it may be needed for future foals.

Do you have a stallion report on this breeding? I have found that often, errors of communication are easily cleared up when you send copies of your stallion reports with your registration work.

Your area director may also be of help in clarifying some of these issues,

that said, even tho there has been some mention of tighter financial controls and some punitive charges for not updating paperwork promptly, since any registry takes money by mail in return for services to be rendered, I think some federal laws may have more to say about return or credit policies than just what a given commercial entity may want to impose. or you can start using a credit card, and ask for charge-backs if you don't get what you ordered.

l would for sure talk to another person maybe in another department. Last year l sent in a registration for a mare that was deceased and wanted her certificate back and when it faied to come after waiting for a half year l called and the women on the phone said sorry they don't have anything to do with lMHR certificates and she couldn't help me...hello hello hello l'm not as stupid as l look. Talked to another person later on in the day and explained and she was sorry for the delay and would get right on it. l did get it back but for sure wouldn't have if l didn't talk to someone else. l don't know what the problem was but this first person didn't want to honor my dead mares regisration paper as valid. Ask for someone else...
