I kind of do it overboard, probably, but I send any AMHR (and AMHA) registry work from my office by UPS Second Day and enclose a UPS Second Day envelope and airbill for them to return the completed papers in that way, and I pay the "RUSH" fee for AMHR (usually not for AMHA) so that I get them back quickly. I've never had any problems with the processing from either registry.

I sent several transfers to AMHR around the same time you did, because I didn't have pictures and knew that after the 1st of the year they would require them. It took almost 2 months to get them back but they did them on the old certificates and didn't request pictures. Seems like if it was post dated before 1/1/07, you should have been ok, but I guess they did just go by the date they received it (or got to it in the pile)

I had to re-send a corrected transfer to AMHR. I mailed it on December 19 and I did get those papers back the end of January and no pictures were involved.

I would tell them to look at the postmarked date when you send it and tell them that it was before January 1st. I bet ya what happened was alot of people weren't in the office at all till the holidays were overwith and of course when they came back it was after Jan 1st. I'm just assuming but I bet ya.

I sent in a transfer sometime around December 1st. Because the drawing on the certificate was not very accurate, (ahem, Belinda) I also sent pictures, and suggested that they use the pictures. That one came in the mail in January with no pictures, just a little better drawing.

Now, I have sent in three registrations since January 15th, with pictures as required. I have not gotten any of them back yet. I am beginning to wonder where my papers are for the first colt that was born.....

I also sent in two registrations to AMHA since that same time frame, and have not gotten anything from them either.

I'd point out that in a few cases postmarks are smudged to the point where they are impossible to read. I think usually AMHR does go by postmarks, at least that's my understanding, but I know I've heard once or twice where someone on here was angry because AMHR didn't go by the postmark. If they can't read the postmark, they can't go by it. I've left paperwork until the last minute once and only once--it did get in on time or at least was processed correctly as December paperwork. As I recall it was date stamped with the date it was processed, not the date it was received.

Dec is one of the busiest months I would guess with everyone trying to get there year paperwork in on horses before the price goes up , and tying up all the loose ends.

I can see how it could have easily taken a couple of weeks to get to the correct desk and pile

I sent in a transfer right at the first of the year, I had forgot about needing pictures, so I didn't send any, I just knew I would get it back requesting pics, so I had taken some and had them developed and ready, I just got them back last week, so it took almost 2 months, but they transferred and never asked for me to send pics.

I know now to send pics, but they really need to put that on the Work order by the transfer because I thought the pics where needed only for new registerations.

I hate putting winter fuzzy pics on too, but I had to send in a mare that needed updated from temp to perm, and transferred and she is VERY pg, but I didn't want to wait until she foaled to get her papers in order. So she looks like the good year blimp on them.

A little off topic here but do we need pictures for transfers too? If so, what should they be looking like? The same as the amha?

I also have a question...does anyone know if a person can request that the new pics(ie: winter fuzzy ones) can be held on file and used for comparison purposes only, and not used to print on the transfer if the old ones are better? Maybe one of the gals from AMHR that reads the Forum can answer these for us??

Well, I guess I don't feel quite so bad then. I sent in transfer papers around the second week of January and I still don't have them back. I've never had it take this long before, but I imagine they are still getting used to the picture issue. who knows

Here's the info for the picture requirements. http://www.shetlandminiature.com/downloads...on%20sheets.pdf
Interestingly, it only mentions new registrations, not transfers, too or temporary to permanent. Does anybody know for a fact that pictures are required on other transactions besides new registrations?

See that is what I thought it was only for new registrations.....or temp to perm. Which is fine.........But if they require it for transfers, then they need to print that on the AMHR work order by the transfer spot!

I believe that any kind of paper work, (transfers, temp. to perm. etc.) needs photos as of Jan 1, 2007.

I too sent in a transfer after Jan, and as I dropped it in the huge box at the post office and turned away it crossed my mind I needed the pics, I called and emailed the office and said I had the pics and had not recieved the papers back after a month +, could I send in the pics with my information and the horses so they would have it, they said to hold them and wait till I recieved the order back not finished and send again. Kind of scary since show season is around the corner and it is taking 2 months for a turn around. I mean, that is 4 months if you have made a mistake like I did!!

Neither office is perfect. If it was a real business they could never sruvive with the kind of service and shananigans that go on!

I sent some transfers in to AMHR in Sept of '06. I sold one of the horses included in that set of paperwork in Jan of '07. I looked and looked around my house for the papers! I pulled things apart and made a total mess of everything trying to find that R registration form. Surely they've sent it back by now - it must be my fault, right??? So I call and they tell me that packet was sent back to me on 11/27/06. So, I fill out the forms, send the money (forgot the pictures!!!) and pay for RUSH processing and shipping to get a duplicate certificate. They call me and say I need pictures! Ugh!! I'm on a deadline here! This horse is getting on a trailer any day now and I need those papers!!!

So, sucky weather and all, we get out there and attempt to take pictures. The VERY NEXT DAY my husband calls me at work and says there's a package here from AMHR. It's postmarked Feb 7th 2007. Guess what's inside????? All my paperwork that was supposedly mailed way back on 11/27/06 - including the one I asked for a duplicate for since it was obviously my mistake!!!! :ugh: :new_2gunsfiring_v1:

From the beginning I thought it was for just new registrations and transfers.

But I guess its for everything now.

I guess it needs to be verified from AMHR because the picture requrement article on their website ONLY mentions new registrations and nothing else. The transfer form says nothing about pictures, either.

I've held off doing a transfer as the horse is eligible to go perm next month and I wanted to take pictures of him after he's been clipped and I would do the transfer and temp to perm at the same time. I just need to find out if pictures are indeed required.

I sent in shetland papers to have transferred in my name the beginnings of January. Totally forgot about needing pictures. Two weeks ago I called the office to make sure they did indeed have my paperwork and was told that they did but I needed to send in pictures too. I finally got the paperwork back last week, and have now remailed it, along with the pictures they requested.

So, yes pictures are needed for transfers as well.
