okay so I finally made it through all the paperwork, fees, DNA tests, etc to register my little stud with AMHA. Now that I have my papers in hand, I am going to hardship him into the AMHR as well. He is already about 32 1/2 inches at 8 months and I want him to be registered with both in case he sprouts again :). Anyway, if anyone has been through this before and has tips or suggestions please share. I should be receiving the papers within a day or two. Surely it can't be as hard as the AMHA stuff. I don't think AMHR requires any additional DNA testing right?.....whew this will be fun!

The AMHR hardshipping is easy. I have one to do myself this year. You simply fill out a registration application, take the appropriate pictures, copy the AMHA papers, fill out the Work Order form and mail it in with the appropriate fees, which are the regular registration fee plus the hardship fee. The Hardship fee is half price this year.

You're welcome. It should be easy.

I just did two of ours and they came back very fast. Now the whole herd is triple registered - A, R & Pinto.

Yes, hardshipping into AMHR is very easy. Also they are very fast in their turnaround. I have 4 mares to do so all will be A/R. One is done and one is in AMHR office. The one completed came back within 2 weeks or less. Well worth it !!

I am curious how you got an 8 month old hardshipped with AMHA? When I read the paperwork it says the horse must be 3 yrs old ???

I have a filly I'd like to get registered but she is just a couple of months old.

Thanks

Lisa

The 8 month old was not hardshipped into A, but had to have DNA and other paperwork done to get the A papers.

Hmm, I thought to hardship AMHR, the horse had to be 3 yrs (AFTER 3rd Bday)? Or is that just for Shetlands to AMHR?

Thank you @HGFarm - I misunderstood your original post. Thanks for the clarification.

Lisa

Yes I hardshipped my little stallion from AHMA into AMHR right at 8 months or so. It was a piece of cake and I was shocked to see how fast the papers got back to me. I got them and they had a TYPO. It said I lived in IN instead of TN. I emailed them, sent them back that day and had them back within 2 weeks! So simple. Good luck and if anyone has questions I am here. If you message me it gets to me quicker. THANKS Y'all!

We are fairly new to minis - having had QH, Paint, Arabs, etc in the past.

Is there any kind allowance for minis with one registered parent as far as hardship (either AMHA or AMHR) when the other parent is not registered with either?

No there isn't for AMHR equus419. To hardship into AMHR a horse must already be registered AMHA, ASPC or Falabella.

Lewella, Off topic, but I was looking at your profile picture. Is that a tail set like people use on walking horses and saddlebreds? Is it done in the same manner? It looks gorgeous.

He's wearing a false tail cap with a brace to hold it in place. Most Modern Shetlands are shown with a cap and brace as opposed to nicked tails like are still common in the Saddlebreds.

The only class it is legal in in AMHR is Park Harness.
