I have a hay formula of one small square bale, per horse, per week. So ten horses would consume 10 bales per week. I have found this formula works pretty good in determining my hay usage for a winter. I do feed them in groups outside in the morning, and individually in stalls in the evening. And they do get grain according to their age and body condition. I have had people come up to me at shows and ask what and how much I feed; commenting my horses look good.
