Whow, very interresting article. Very long overdo, but Im happy that animal abuse/cruelty acts are at least being brought to the forfront and the perpatrators we hope, are being held responsible. It didnt mention what 4 states do not consider animal abuse a felony...I wonder. I think its wonderful that they have this special crime lab and are setting up task forces ( although its a shame that there is even a need )to help solve these horrendous crimes but our friggin court systems have to step up to the plate and really throw the book at the offenders. Which in my opinion is not being done. These offenders, if not held responsible now, will be the ones that will be in court later with crimes against their neighbors, their kids, wifes,husbands....its sick!

I think what was said to vets is very true and I hope vets will report any possible abuse they see.

"YOU CANNOT NOT REPORT BECAUSE YOU DONT KNOW IF WHAT YOU ARE SEEING ON THE ANIMAL ISNT JUST THE PROVERBIAL TIP OF THE ICEBURG"

Thanks for posting this.

IMO, our court systems are a joke.... it's more like 'Let's Make A Deal' rather than 'Are you guilty or not guilty of commiting a crime'!! First time offenders, slap their hands and send them on their way, or better yet, figure that it isnt enough of a disaster to send to court in the first place and blow it off....

Many states have many laws, it's just getting them ENFORCED and taken seriously that is the hard part!! Which to me, is just as annoying as not having any laws at all.
