Here is was a lovely, sunny, warm day. I was on vacation & just spending the day at home catching up on work and working with the horses (I was a month away from getting my first Mini that day, all we had at that point in time were the Morgans). We were outside all morning & didn't have the radio or TV on. When we went in for lunch I drove the mile down the road to pick up the mail while Mom fixed lunch. I was at the mailboxes when the DJ came on the air talking about a special church service being held that evening for anyone that wanted to pray for the situation in the States. Then she said that if anyone was just tuning in, here was what was happening--and then she described the situation. By that time both towers had collapsed. I called home and told mom to put on the TV--I said it probably didn't matter which station, all would be showing the same thing. I grabbed the mail and went flying back home to see for myself. That was the end of that beautiful day.

I found out later that at the office one of the legal secretaries that came in told my coworkers about the situation, and one of the staff went home & got a small TV & brought it into the office. The staff spent a lot of time watching that rather than working that day.

It really doesn't seem like 7 years have passed since that awful day--I guess it's all such a vivid memory, it seems like it was only 2 or 3 years ago.

I was sleeping in that day, it was my day off....but I got a call when it all happened from my supervisor telling me to get up, get ready, they might need me to come in, it was a national emergency....I turned on the tv and was in total shock. I was sad, confused, and quite frankly mad as he!!.

It was hard being at work today, as is every 9/11....even though I know this can not happen again....everytime a pilot did not answer me right away or wasn't flying their correct path (which happens many times daily...pilots are not always the brightest crayons in the box)....there it was.... in the back of my mind. It was a long 8 hours today.

My heart and prayers go out to all who lost family/friends....they may be gone, but they will never be forgotten.

I had just turned the tv on and they were saying a plane had hit. Woke up my husband and watched the second tower get hit. Then they said the Pentagon was hit and we froze. Our nephew is Army Intelligence and spent a lot of time there. We called his mother who knew no more and couldn't get a call through. All day we didn't know whether He was alive or dead. At 7:30 pm Arnie's sister called to say If not for a last minute appt. at his office in Maryland He would have been right where the plane hit. He was fine. We could finally breathe normally.

My best friend from CA called me and said something about her boyfriend not wanting her to go to work that day. I asked her why but she didn't tell me. She just said watch TV. I turned it on and saw that the first tower had been hit. Then I saw the 2nd tower get hit.

I was sitting there in stunned shock like this :DOH! with tears rolling.

I did nothing all day (and for the next weeks) but sit and watch nothing but that. I felt like my heart had stopped that day.

It was strange that no planes were flying at all. Driving in the city, you could see the same looks on everyone's faces. A shocked, watchful look. We were driving, just turning a corner when a plane flew over and everyone "ducked" in their cars! After the skys being so silent, the plane flying low was a shock!

I was out in the barn yard doing barn work when it happened. I remember thinking what a really beautiful day it was, how blue the sky was. I went in the house to get some tea and turned on the TV, and was totally freaked out. I remember thinking, how could the day be so beautiful, the sun shining so bright and all those horrible things happening here in our country and all those poor people dying.

We are in the flight path of the airport. The skies became empty of planes flying over head. It was very quiet.

When the planes began to fly, it seemed weird. All the horse looked up at the sky, watching the first plane fly over. They definitely noticed when they started to fly again.

God Bless America.

I was in school...7th grade (maybe 8th..i cannot remember at this point) and i was in 3rd period algebra i even remember where i was sitting in class..and our principal came in and told us to turn on the news. At the time i didnt know what was really happening or how big it was...that was the same time the 2nd plane hit.

I was a paramedic at the time and I was sitting at a red light on my way back from Physical Therapy from a ankle injury when I heard a plane had hit the first tower. So I called my boss and asked him if he had heard anything about it and he had. So I went to the office and was sitting there on the couch watching tv when the second plane hit the second tower. And then to watch them fall was just horrifying.
