Ashley, if the website is right then the stallion was lab tested as chestnut.
He does look black based, but maybe he's just more of a liver chestnut color. We had a liver chestnut appy mare that we sold a few years ago and she looks black based but is not. She is owned by Maple Hollow on here-maybe she'll see this and post a picture.
ETA: After looking at the picture of him on the website again, I think his owners should definitely retest him. He has black points and a couple of black spots.
