Hi Everyone!

Can anyone recommend a fun family vacation spot for me, my husband and two daughters ages 14 and 9?

Driving distance from MA is a must this time around so maybe NH, ME, VT, PA, RI etc.

If we end up at the old standby, Storyland, is there anything else fun to do up there?

Not sure if Ohio would be to far, but Cedar Point is a great place...lots of neat things to see in Sandusky too..Put In Bay..lake erie. CP just opened up ont he 16th too.

I am not into rollar coasters, at all, but we are at cedar point several times each summer and then for halloweekends in October too. Offer child rides and its so much more then just rollar coasters. They have the Top Thrill Dragster which gives me chills just watching it....

There is so much to do up there. I have not been up there for years but always loved it up in NH.

If you have not been up the Cogway go. It is a beautiful educational experience. It is getting expensive. About $60 per adult and $40 per child. It is something your kids will never forget. Driving up Mt. Washington it great too but a lot of people do not like the steep roads with little to no guard rails. There is so much history at the top of that mountain.

Take the ski lift up either Canon or Loon Mt. Then WALK down.

Drive the loop. Start in Conway and drive the Kancamagus Hwy to Lincoln. Stop along the way to walk and picnic. In Lincon stops at Clarks Trading post and see the bears. Go west on 118, the Lost River is somewhere over there. Then go North on RT 3 stopping at everything you come. The flume is a wonderful walk with so much to see. The kids will love it.

The old man in the mountain is gone but there is still the park there.

Maybe visit Bonnie Fogg.

Head back to Conway on 302. This takes you past some nice hiking trails and waterfalls. The Mt. Washington Hotel.

I do not remember the name of the hotel but right in North Conway there Adventure Suites.. You can get a theme room. For a family something like the Tree house or the cave.

Outside of NH, anywhere on the ocean. We stayed at a house on a fresh water pond in Boothbay. I did not think the kids would find a lot to do but they loved it and still talk about it years later.

Take the boat from Portland, ME to Nova Scotia, it is not longer the 11 hour ride it used to be. If you decide to spend a few nights there check out White Sands. It was years ago but the kids loved it.

LOL my list could be never ending. What about renting a canoe in NH and camping out on the Sacco river?

Shoo this ol transplanted yankee would kill to go back to Plymouth or Portland ME , Kent falls CT, Augusta NF ME , Marthas Vineyard and on and on and on LOL

Outside of Portland ME is Casco Bay, the ferrys a nice ride around the islands. Course, there are many places to stay on those islands. I've been around and Chebeague Island is still my dream.

Have you spent time at the Cape?

We had a summer house there on Cape Cod in Dennis when I was growing up in Dennis. We spent time in Hyannis, Provincetown, Martha's Vineyard and I about drowned at Race Point. But it was still the most wonderful time ever.

Lake Sabago is just breathtaking, has nice camping facilites too and lots of fun; but when I was there, the lake was infested with blood suckers.

Funny you should mention Kent Connecticut Pepipony; we used to have our family picnics there every year. An amazing place.

Here in Quebec is nice. Within driving distance of us is the Bromont Water Slides, Six Flags La Ronde which is a theme park with rides, etc, Montreal is only a hour from me and checking out old Montreal is pretty neat. Also most weekends in August we have country fairs(ones I personally show at are August 6 to 9 is Bedford Fair, August 27 to August 30 is Ayers Cliff Fair and September 4 to 7 is Brome Fair.). There is also the Brome Lake Duck Festival but I am not sure when that is.

Hershey, PA? I have heard wonderful things about Hershey Park! Yes...that is allll about Hersheys chocolate!
