Hi,

We live in Circleville, Ohio and looking for a recommended miniature horse vet that would travel to Circleville. If you are one, work for one, or recommend one let me know, thanks!

Hi there!

I don't know any vets in the Circleville area - sorry! But I just wanted to say, "Hi!" from up the road in London! I don't know if she would travel - but we use Dr. Chris Coudret at London Animal Hospital. She doesn't specialize in minis - she does all size horses, but she is great with our little ones.

Not sure how far it is, but Dr. Greg Noll in Springfield has worked with our minis for about 20 years. He is very good with them (and us). You could give him a call and see if he'll come out to you. He would travel about 30 miles to our place. His number is 937 323-1607

Getitia and Les Matheny live in Circleville Ohio (Buckeye WCF) - I feel sure that Getitia would use only the best vet she could find. Perhaps ask her? I am sure she would be willing to help.

to add to this... Here's their website: http://www.buckeyewcf.com/ Their contact information is at the bottom of the sales page.

Thanks all for your comments! LB has been so helpful! Yes, Dr. Coudret I have called, and she has been so helpful over the phone. That is actually who Getitia and Les use, I have spoken with her many times, that is a GREAT farm, and I would recommend their horses to anyone! They have alo helped me prepare for shows, and tought me so much! Unfortunately, when I called Dr. Coudret, she said economically she couldnt drive out here for one or two horses, but I'm sure I could take them there if it wasn't pregnancy related!

IonaFarms Springfield is quite a haul from us, but I may call them and see?

I have checked out your website in the past, and I just wanted to say your horses are beautiful! Also, wanted to let you know that I have some colts and a filly from a sire that was from your farm!

I thought that Les and Getitia used Dr. Coudret, too. There is an equine vet from around Grove City that might make the drive. His name is Dr. Daniel Stradley. I have never used him for my minis, but know several people who use him for their full size horses. You might also call OSU and see if they have any vets down there. I know there is an OSU clinic out of Marysville. We used them for a few years when I had minis the first time around and they were great! They did farm visits - you did not have to take your horses into the clinic.

That's great advice! Thanks

Our vet might be too far for you, but she is a reproductive specialist and has a lot of mini experience. She does travel a lot so might work in your area, lives near Centerburg, name is Dr Heidi Immegart.

I agree with the others, check with OSU, they do have a mobile unit.

Gettitia might also be able to refer you to another vet in the area since she has lived there long enough to know more than one vet in the area.

Oh, Dr Stradley is really good, just saw him on the previous post.

I highly recommend Bella Vista Equine. They travel a lot and just added a new vet to the team. I got to meet him couple weeks ago and he has a lot of miniature exp as he worked under a head vet in Texas that had a lot of mini customers. Dr. Muese is also works there and is the one that saved our Annie.

Thank you so much for that. i will have to see if they travel to circleville or not. By the way, I have looked at your website many times, and your horses are beautiful. I also have and recommend your Confirmation book for miniature horses. Thank you for all you do! It is so hard to find good miniature horse information.

I'm another OSU client, we use OSU Large Animal in Marysville.. Highly recommend them, believe I have met/worked with pretty much all of the vets for various things and all are quite good, though Dr. Welker is my personal favorite. I also LOVE the fact of the vet students tagging along and getting to be hands on/help!

Thank you for your recommendation! We have used the OSU hospital in Columbus before, I thimk Marysville may be to far for a traveling vet. I can always call and ask though

.

I really appreciate all of you that have given me good recommendations! It really helps to have helpful miniature horse farms that are reputable, and have beautiful and healthy horses! I hope to be like you all one of these days! We did our first show at the Ohio State fair AMHR show, and plan to go to the Fairfield county fair this October to get some more experience. Thank you all again!

That is so sweet! Thank you! You should come visit sometime. I know Bella Vista works a lot in Columbus and surrounding areas so I wouldnt think Circleville would be too far, but I am not sure.

I would LOVE to visit sometime. My husband's father lives in Thornville, I will have to plan something out next time we head that way. Do you show in the Fairfield County fair?

would be great! We are going to try the fair this year, it will only be our second show, and some of the ones we are entering will be their first. I was wondering about clipping this late, maybe I will just use like a 15 blade or something....?
