We bought a freisen cross at the sale Saturday, well he looked terrible, skinny, gaunt, feet were terrible and his mane was a hugh matted mess. Well Sunday we bathed him, trimmed his front feet which were the worst, found out he had lice terrible, and worked on his mane for 2 hours. He looks great, he actually is not as skinny as we thought, he needed water bad!! Anyways we sprayed fly spray that kills fleas and lice also on him, and today he has several spots that he has itched raw and oozing, anyone deal with anything like that before? I am not sure what to put on him, I will call the vet in the morning, but if anyone has suggestions it is much appreciated.

Thanks

Just recently three of my mini's broke out in hives after I had dusted them with lice and fly dust , the bumps looked like mosquito bites and the smallest mini was itching at them . I brushed as much of the powder out of their coats as I could and wiped them down with a wet washcloth. The bumps were gone by morning. I also had a hackney mare break out in hives after using a fly spray on her , the hives were huge patches . I ended up giving her a total bath to get the stuff off , then she was fine.

WE HAD ONE OF OUR MINI MARES THAT FOR SOME REASON AFTER SPRAYING HAD BLISTERS ON HER. EVERYONE ELSE WAS SPRAYED AND DID FINE, SO VET SAID SHE HAD ALLERGIC REACTION AND THAT HER SKIN IS MORE SENSITIVE. WASHED IT OFF AND ALSO HOSED IT FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND ALSO AFTER EACH HOSING PUT ANTIBIOTIC CREAM ON IT. WE USE THE WALMART BRAND OF TRIPLE ANITBIOTIC. JUST MAKE SURE YOU GET IT WASHED OFF.

Several years ago before I heard about it, I sprayed my QH with Oil based spray, and his hair fell out. You have to watch the oil based sprays.
