Anyone else hate paperwork? All kinds.........

Glad you aren't here to see my desk. I"m under seige here with un-opened mail, papers, bills, forms to fill out for all kinds of stuff, just a mess in general. I really hate paperwork. I'll do anything to get out of it too and put it off for days, weeks. My registration papers are in order but other things are not.

I've got all these little bins to keep things organized and I don't use them.

I just hate to have to sit down and focus on it and do it.

Then I'll get to where I can't stand it and then put it all on the table and go through everything and feel so relieved when I find that it's mostly junk mail.

And then it starts all over again.

Marty I so know what your are talking about! I hate paperwork at home too. My job is nothing but paperwork all day long. I'm a bookkeeper at a school district here, everything is all organized, alphabatized, in it's place.....there. Here at home I have a plastic cube thing from Wally World that anything to do with taxes gets put in this box and then at the end of every year (like now) I have to go thru and get things out for taxes. Ugh! I soooo do not want to do it.

Now I'm actually just the opposite, it used to be that everything was a HUGE mess but I tackled everything BUT the horse paperwork this year, thats going to be a major undertaking! I vowed a year ago to organize the bills and tax paperwork and it's DONE!

I do a one touch system with ANYTHING that comes in the mail, I get it from the box and it gets handled immediately! Anything to be tossed hits the can right away, for filing, in it goes! Bills get paid immediately, I do online bill payment so I come straight to the computer, set up payment, mark the bill as paid and in to the file on hubbies desk, DONE! It makes it so much easier to sleep at night not worrying about having misplaced a bill

And I've saved about 50 dollars in postage this way :bgrin

oh man i hate it so much. I have been trying to catch up dog and horse papers. And now im digging out reciepts so i can file my taxes. I may need a vacation after this lol. i do pay almost all my bills online now and i love that!! no stamps no checks and envelopes!

I use a simple system. I have an folding file system, anything farm related goes in it for the accountant. Bills I pay on line when they come so they are always caught up. On line banking was a god send as far as I am concerned. In the past I would collect them and have to sit down and write out checks etc. With the way debit cards and on line banking has taken over up here I have not written a check in many years. Suits me fine.

It's so funny......at work I don't mind paperwork at all. I get after it and get it done! At home I'm a procrastinator and everything gets stuck in designated piles. I'm good about getting bills paid but everything else waits until I "have to" do something.

I try to go thru the mail and throw out the junk as soon as I can, but it usually gets piled on the counter. About once a week, I spend a little time going thru and tossing or sticking in a file--which is a drawer in my bedroom. Then about this time of year, I spend a couple of hours going thru that and give all the receipts and income stuff to hubby who files it in quicken on the computer and I can then print what I want for taxes. While he is doing that stuff, I go thru the checks I have written (to farrier ect) and then give them to him also. He loves thinking that he can actually do something on the computer and I love that I don't have to. :bgrin Used to be I would have boxes of stuff cause I put everything into boxes from the mail and then I spent days and several garbage bags cleaning it up every year. I have gotten a little better. :aktion033:

The horse paper work is usually done in time, but getting it mailed is another thing sometimes. I try to get it together as soon as possible cause I know that I will be flying around at the last minute otherwise.

My main problem is answering letters when insurance companies need something or one of our pony ride clients need something. I really have to get on myself to get that kind of thing done in timely fashions.

Oh, Marty!!! It's like you've been to my house!! What you described is pretty much exactly what I have here. I hate paperwork of all descriptions, too, and being a natural procrastinator anyway, you can imagine how my stuff is.....

I finally got all my horse paperwork caught up around the first of December which was a HUGE load off my shoulders! But now I have to renew all my various memberships, sustain a horse in the futurity, and something else is bound to come up before long..... <sigh>

The best news is that hubby is taking over all the bill payments and matters financial! Yippee!! What a huge load of stress off my mind!

: ). I could just get on a plane and fly around to your places and do it for you

: (sorry, you'd have to pay me :lol: ) OR you could just go do each other's paperwork. It's a lot easier to do someone else's paperwork.

I tried that, Pam, having someone else do the paperwork for me, but even that didn't work. It was all I could do to remember to keep all the invoices and receipts together, and then I would have to put everything in an envelope and mail it to her! OH MY! She actually managed to get the first four months of 2004 done for me, and it all looks so neat and professional!!! It was a heck of a good idea, but i'm just hopeless!

One month ago I was in your shoes but one of my New Year's resolutions was to do as Krisp mentions above. Now I am feeling less stressed about it. I open it immediately instead of putting it in a pile to deal with later. It has been nice but over this weekend the old way threatened to creep in so I had to sit down tonight and take care of it all before it got out of hand again.
