Please PM me if you have any experience shipping a horse with a commercial hauler on a 1,500 + mile trip.

I would love to hear any recommendations from the forum members.

We have had a few minis moved fom coast to coast by Sharraway's transport. They have arrived as fresh as if they just went across the state. We have heard of other great transporters but have not used them yet.

They are located on the transportation section of this forum. They are mini people in love with the minis and raise over 50+ theirselves while actively showing. As expected their schedule is quite full. Good luck on whom ever you choose.

He is about to start a trip in the next few days that way; probably last for this year.

Hauled Wright just transported one of my fillies from here in WV to TX. The buyer and I were both thrilled with their service and care of the filly. I had never used them before, but Denise (the buyer) has and loves them. The filly stepped off the trailer in TX as fresh and as perky as when she left WV.

We've had commercial transport from Okla to Maine from ,Indiana to Maine, and private transport from Okla to Maine, New York to Maine, and Arkansas to Maine. I prefer the private transport but Zeiglar was wonderful and the other transporter was also great both took excellent care of our horses but the first transporter is no longer doing it.

I live 20 miles from the Atlantic Ocean in Delaware and sold a horse to CA 5 miles from the Pacific. Can't get much more coast to coast than that.I think he was shipped using Cox transport. He arrived just fine.I also had Worley's transport a dwarf for me from Delaware to near Tony Greaves in TX.the owner was not home at the time he arrived in TX and Chester spent a day or 2 with Tony and his family.Chester was only 5 or 6 months old when his journey began. He arrived in fine shape and is now a therapy horse with Hearts and Hooves.

We have shipped cross country and have really liked Sharrway and Hauledwright! I have used other but would only recommend those 2.

I had my colt shipped from Arkansas to Quebec. Very reasonable rate. Only was charged $750 Canadian. I used Mary Mykytyn. The colt arrived in great shape at 1 a.m. Though I was told in advance he would arrive late evening, early morning. Mary has shipped a few more for me and all have been shipped with great results though not as far only from Ontario to Quebec. Mary is based in Ottawa, Ontario.

I'm having a horse shipped from TX to ME next month by HauledWright. They have been great answering my questions and from what i've read, a lot of people like them. The other transporters that I heard good things about were not making any trips to Maine in the near future.

For a first timer doing this (having a horse shipped) it's kinda scary

I had Molly's, Triple, hauled from WA to Cape Cod in January 2006 through a snow storm that made the hauler pull off for at least a day (possibly two), and Trip arrived happy, clean and well hydrated! They were Worley's Hauling. I'd highly recommend them! They were either online with me or on the cellphone the entire time so I knew every move.

Thank you , Mary Lou, for such a great forum !!!

So many people have answered my post - everyone has been very helpful.

Some of the haulers aren't able to help me but the ones that can have been recommended by several members of the forum.

Thanks again, everybody !!!

We had ours shiped by a private hauler from California to Kentucky, unfrotunatly I don't remember the name or prices off the top of my head. We shiped four horses total (two biggies and two minis) the minis shared a stall and we were charged the price of one big horse for the two of them. They were very happy and comfortable when they arrived, although they were ready to stretch their legs on their new pastures which they had never known before!

Good luck finding a transporter.

Thanks for all the references, everybody !

I'm running into a little trouble - I've only found 2 haulers that will be making that trip and no earlier than the end of January.

At this point I'm not worried about price - I want the best hauler so I know the horse has a safe and secure ride across the country.

Keep those ideas coming !

Thanks so much !

Justine
