Here's a few websites I frequent just to look at their puppies

Haven't bought anything from any of them so couldn't tell you personally about dealing with them or their dogs...

Vom Daxi Haus Lildoxis

I love their little cream smooth coat puppy on their "True 'type' creams in short and long" banner..

Shasta Dachshunds

Dream-A-Dream Doxies

I want the tiny little black pup on Lil Bit's litter! OMGosh he's TOOO cute!!

Here's a whole list:

Dachshund breeders

You know, there are lots of great DAchshund breeders out there... lots of us are responsible... Lowrisemini that really wasnt called for.

Actually there are some double dapple champions out there too! As there are piebald champions. The Dachshund Club of America doesnt like the spots and they havent purposly put the piebalds in as a standard color howebver the only disqualification for the breed is knuckling over of the front legs. Any color can still be bred and shown. I love the colors, the Piebalds and Dapples. The thing ylou have to be most careful of is breeding dapples to pies, thats where the blindness and deafness and lack of eyes comes in.. many dapple pies resemble double dapples in the patterning. WE as responsible dachshund breeders , adhereing to the standards dont breed dapples to each other nor to pies just in case.

Some other sites of inters of triends of mine are.

www.ynotdachshunds.com go to the DCA club of america and there are many web sites there.

Check out Grandgables dachshunds in canada, www.deedachs.com is my friend and owner of the sire of my little Prissy Dee Dee Clarke

I have just purchased a black and tan Pie carrying male from Christine Goddard at YNot. I may be getting her AM/CAN Ch Dapple long haired male if I can come up with his 3000 price tag.

Ever litter of show puppies contains some pets as well... its just a fact of life so when we breed for our next show dog there will be a couple of wonderful babies for other families.

IF that cdhocolate dapple puppy didnt already beling to someone, I would be sending money for that one myself!

Though I agree with Lowrise....I did not wish to "jump on anyones case" so with the original question in mind.

Try going to http://www.akc.org/ http://www.ukcdogs.com/ there are lots of websites out there and many very nice doxies. The genetic sites to research pedigrees and some of the health issues, start with http://www.offa.org/ it is a great place to get a fair amount of info on pedigrees and the common issues.

Actually showing doesn't have to be a complete money drain. If you have good stock you can show limited and close to home without tons of travel, you will meet lots of fun dog people and will learn alot about your breed and other breeds.

Also yahoo groups have a number of lists you might see if there is one specifically for doxies, even if you do not feel comfortable posting many are great places to lurk and learn, just be prepared for some strong opinions

Lowrise was very gentle compared to many out there.

Try to have a thick skin as in this day and age any one is a target for being called a puppymill if they breed dogs at all, the war on animal breeding especially dogs is alot like the war on drugs and there will be many people who consider what you are doing a criminal activity. Breeders have had all kinds of horrible things happen recently from simply advertising a litter or puppy.

good luck, happy surfing.

I forgot all about Yahoo Groups, and that's strange because that's normally one of the first stops I make when I want to learn more about something.

I thought of another place to visit... www.doxietown.com That is a forum group but they also have links to sites there. I go there when I have time.

I enjoy showing dogs, entries for puppy classes are a bit less than open but the most I have paid os 25 dollars for American Bred Bitch class. You meet really nice people and a few not so nice just like in the horse show world. We are lucky to have many shows in VA, MD NC where there are often three separate shows in a three day weekend . My girlfriend just fininshed a bitch in two weekends with 3 major wins and the remaining single. IT was very exciting.

IT costs less than showing the horses and is just as enjoyable!
