I love floats on clear streams and cannot wait until we move to where there are a lot of places to canoe and kayak (as not in NE Texas) . Where are some of your favorite places for this? I have done plenty in Arkansas and Oklahoma but realize there is a lot of good places in other states. I get to move

in three years, maybe less if I will get in gear. Looking for 4 seasons and beautiful country.

I LOVE the water.....big and small. One reason I love MI so much....you have the Great Lakes surrounding you (which imo are better than the ocean)....from anywhere you stand in the state you are no further than 85 miles to a Great Lake. Streams and rivers are abundent here. I love to float/raft the Muskegon, it is beautiful. We have a place on the west side and within 15 miles of us are dozens and dozens of lakes/rivers/streams. There are also some ugly places here too....just like any state. Central MI has lots of farm land, it's very flat. The Upper Penninsula is gorgeous, along with the western and northern side of the lower penninsula. We boat the great lakes as well as large inland lakes. We have a smaller boat for smaller lakes and rivers and then we raft some rivers/streams. Winters here are harsh and drag on though and the economy is not great. On the upside houses are super cheap right now, it is not unusual to find what used to be a $750,000 lakefront home for under $200, 000 now.

Thanks for the info. I can't wait to get back out there with nature on a regular basis. Right now it seems like it is just work at work, work at home, over and over. We love getting the map out and talking about all the places we are going to!
