In general no. My Minis have good temperaments--they are sweet, agreeable and good tempered; a few would work as children's horses, but most of mine would not be suitable for children, at least not young children. For one thing there are no small children here & my horses simply aren't used to them. THe biggest thing, though, is that I do like my horses to be hotter than a $2 pistol, and so the ones that I consider my best horses are simply too much horse--they have too much "go" and "attitude"--to be suitable for children.
Having said that, the filly I showed last year has never seen a small child in her life, or at least she hadn't at the time of our June show. I was standing out in the aisle way with this filly, waiting for our class, when all of a sudden this little kid dashed up behind her & just smacked her on the rear end! I guess he dashed away from his mom to "pat" the horse, but he just SMACKED little Lass. He was so quick that by the time I saw him coming it was too late to warn him or do anything else--little Lass, bless her soul, never even twitched! She just turned her head to see what was that?? Sensible girl!
