My question is do you think more colts are born than fillies? Yes or No They do say humans have more females than males.

When we have had enough answers, please ask a question?

Than please do not go back to the previous question thanks.

Lets have some fun

I also would say No

Here is another question?

Do you believe a stallion should be smaller than a mare in height when breeding?

Once this has been answered go ahead and ask a question if you wish?
The first question; I think YES there are more colts than fillies OR I am lucky and just get colts.

The second question; Yes I do belive the stallion should be smaller or at least the same size. I am dealing with a colt that the mare was 32" and the stud 33.75" and he is 33" as a young 2 year old. I will never breed bigger again.

I don't have an answer for the how many mares question, not enough experience in that to even make an educated guess. But I have a new question.
Do you think there should be some sort of breeding stock division in AMHA for MARES that go over 34"?

NO. We need to stop "creating" classes especially when those mares could show on the AMHR circuit. No need to remake the wheel.

No questions, I have all the answers!

New question, how long do you "look" when you get a new horse. Lat time I posted many times on the LB board, probably viewed 100 different web sites (if not more). I think it took me 6 months to narrow it down and get what I wanted. It seems people get annoyed if you take your time to research and look into whats out there.

It takes me months, and I have found my one not on the sale pages, but on someones web site and ask if they would consider selling such and such a horse? Never hurts to ask.

New question: Do you think different colors make horses easier to sell? Which ones and why?

color did help us decide what we wanted our breeding herd to be:

pintos and pintaloosa

5 years ago, the local shows had more solids entries than multi colour classes

The last few years both classes are big.

In esponce to txminipinto, I wasn't referring to showing at all, only for breeding purposes, hence, "breeding stock"

Do you think different colors make them easier to sell??

Uh, yeah, anybody that doesn't think that is the case really isn't paying attention, or hasn't sold alot of horses! In both big and small horses, a more difficult color to get, will command a higher price all other things being equal, sometimes the inferior horse with the desirable color will bring more, go figure

yes I think color sells more then solid color.

Oh and to breeding stock question yes they should have breeding stock papers because just because horse went over doesn't mean it can't produce an A size foal but I think it should be more for mares and geldings.

Yes I do think color is a factor when seeling/buying.

I personally like buckskins, grullas, and duns. Pinto is even better. But for me, I dont like alot of white. So when I look at a horse, too much white can SOMETIMES be a turn-off. I'm not too interested in grays either and I personally would never own a cremello/perlino.

I have a friend who hates chestnut/sorrel. She can find the perfect horse, but because its a chestnut/sorrel, she walks away. Thats her choice.

I think Carin misunderstood. I have been all for a breeding stock division for AMHA for years. But I dont think it will ever happen. Im a little hopeful though because if they close the books like they say they are they almost have to do it as then they wont be able to kick horses out that measure over 34" I have an all AMHA bred mare that went over. To date not one foal of hers has gone over 34. Last year I bred her to Black who is 36.5 and her foal is still very small and probably wont go over 34.

Yes I do think certain colors sell quicker. Hopefully people are also looking at conformation etc. But if you are going to buy a horse you should get what you want to look at in your back yard and a lot of times people like blue roan, frame overo, black & white pinto. On the flip side there are a lot that also like solid dilutes
