That is so if one parent has Appy characteristics.
Neither of this mares parents is Appy, therefore, as current thinking goes at the moment (and this is only theory but it does make sense) both non characteristiced parents would have to supply a gene to make an Appy.
The sire is not Appy bred, but it is still, theoretically, possible.
But, as this mare is 13 and has not shown anything until now, although it is still, theoretically, possible I have to say it is unlikely.
In your case, Sandee, one parent was Appy, she just neglected to let you know until later!
