Hey

I really want to go to the Area 3 nationals this year. I read in the AMHR rule book that you have to show in 2 different locations under 4 different judges. Do you have to place in the class to qualify for the Area Nationals?

If I'm reading this correctly, there are no qualifications required for the AMHR "Area" shows. You have to show under 4 judges at 2 separate shows to quality for AMHR Nationals, which are held in Tulsa OK.

Just one thing to ad that I discovered my fellow club members didn't know. The Area show only has one judge but he/she counts as three. In other words go to that show and you have 3 of the four judges you need to qualify for Nationals.

Okey so this means that if i dont go to any other shows in Florida i could still go to the area 3 nationals in perry, Ga.

The showing under 4 judges and 2 different locations is to qualify for THE National show in Oklahoma?

Correct. You don't have to qualify to go the area show in Perry.

No, you do not need to qualify for the area show. You do need to qualify for the National show in Tulsa.

Okey thanks ya'll i wish i had of asked earlier. Every year seems like i missed the first show or two then didnt put in to go to perry cuz i thought i missed the boat. I would love to go to Tulsa but that is too far away from home from me. Maybe one day.... It will be the high light of the year just to make it to Perry. I'm still pretty new at showing (really havent a clue what i'm doing) and of course this will be my fillies first year of showing so i'm not really expecting first place. I wanted to get her professionally trained but just dont think i'll be able to fork out the $$$ Maybe if she's really well liked this year i can afford to have someone show her in Tulsa for me next year but then again i'll probably just be worried that something might happen to her. I'm like a mother hen when it comes to my minis as i'm sure a lot of you are.

Just for anyone else reading I dont think that is correct?? It has to be 2 different locations so I dont think that show would count as 3 judges as it pertains to qualifying for Nationals.

The National Area Show counts as three approved Judges. (I copied this straight from the online rule book)

The best place to find any information you need about showing and what is required is to check out the associations website and read the online rule book. This was pretty easy to find just by looking through the Table of Contents at the beginning of the rule book.

Good luck and hope you get to Perry, GA and have a lot of fun showing your filly.

That is correct -- IF you do an Area show & 1 other show - you are then qualified for Nationals.

Makes it much easier when & if there are no shows in your own area where you live.

Gary and I along with many other OBMHC club members have been to the Area III Nationals in Perry Ga. We have been fortunate enough to have attended two of the last three years and have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The hotels are veyr reasonable as are the local restaurants and the facility is VERY nice. This year the Wahl's were there along with several other pony people as well as some very well know trainers and amateurs. Next year rumor has it that the Area III Nationals will be in the new air conditioned arena.

Please try to come to our OBMHC events at the Conders this year. They are inexpensive, very friendly and this year the three shows are all part of a Spring Series payoff program. The high point amateurs, open and youth for AMHR and for AMHA will actually get cash payouts. In this day and age money is the best prize there is. Anyway, it will be a fun way to practice for Area III and qualify for Nationals.

There are also a lot of our members who go to Nationals each year so you might even find a ride for your horse and you as well as an inexpernsive place to stay in Tulsa to share. Please email us at [email protected] or [email protected] or give Gary (he's the President of OBMHC) a call at 352-279-2732.

They just haven't posted the dates yet. It's always the first part of Sept. Should be starting somewhere around the 8th or 9th and running for 10 or 11 days.
