Dear Members of the ASPC/AMHR Registry,
It has been brought to my attention that our Registry’s show department is experiencing some problems already this show season. Here is a list of problems that I have found out that we ALL need to attend to:
1. AMHR Registration: Please check the dates on your horse’s registration papers to be sure they are still current and haven’t expired. If your horse is under Temporary papers and have turned three years old (3) please submit a work order along with the temporary papers to the office so they can process the update for you. Other wise you could find yourself with an unregistered horse at a show and not be able to present that horse. I would hate for anyone to loose points on their horses for this oversight.
2. Memberships: Please if you plan on showing in ANY AMATEUR classes you MUST have a Regular paid membership to the ASPC/AMHR Registry plus a paid Amateur Membership. We are also seeing a lot of folks obtaining their Amateur Cards at a show, but ARE NOT a regular paid member. I don’t want any Amateur to loose out on the Triple A Amateur program because they didn’t pay a regular membership. You don’t have to have membership to participate in the Open Classes if the Amateur program isn’t for you.
3. Youth Membership: All Youth must renew their membership YEARLY, it’s still FREE but you must either call the office or send in an update to let them know you are still a youth until your 18th birthday. Again, this could cause you to loose out on some of those Youth Awards.
4. A Courtesy Reminder: I do see that a lot of shows are requesting copies of either your regular membership card, a copy of your Amateur card or both when you submit your entries. Please be considerate and submit these with your entries each time. It does save time when we are checking to be sure these are current and for some of the awards that are offered.
These are just some of the most important items that was brought to my attention and felt it was important enough for all of us to adhere to. Now is the time to check into them now and not at a show.
Thanks.
Karen Shaw
