Last night was the bowling awards party for Special Olympics. Austin ended up taking 1st place in his division and his name was drawn to go to the Western Bowling Sectionals in Pittsburgh this Saturday! :aktion033: Needless to say, Austin is really excited!

: He is hoping he makes it back to Summer Games again this year!

Austin was the top Bowl-A-Thon pledge winner for the 3rd year in a row! :aktion033: Thank you to all who sponsored him!

: For all of his efforts, he received a Special Olympics embroidered towel, a keychain, a magnet, a ribbon and 2 beanies. All of the athletes who participated in the bowling competition received a ribbon and a Special Olympics bag. So, Austin ended up bringing quite a few goodies home last night. :new_shocked:

Calista presented her check last night for all of the crafts she sold. She ended up adding $177.00 to the $27.00 she had already turned in from selling crafts at the horseshoe pitch-a-thon for a total of $204.00!!! :new_shocked: She was given the royal treatment with a round of applause from everyone and was presented with stuffed animals and a Special Olympics ribbon for all of her efforts. :aktion033: She plans to continue to make and sell crafts to help out as much as she can.

I bet Austin is walking on clouds today :aktion033: . That’s so cool! I bet he’s really excited about this weekend. Sounds like he’ll be back at the games again this summer.

That’s really sweet that Cali is helping out so much. I’m sure it made her feel good when she was treated so wonderful for her kindness.

Good luck to Austin this weekend. Let us know how he does.

That's really neat! I really wish out County's Special Olympics program offered horse riding. I know they have it at Summer Games, but you have to qualify in order to attend. Austin would really love to ride horses!!!!

Austin was really excited about his weekend. I will make a post as soon as I am able to get my pictures developed and scanned into the computer. The poor little guy ended up getting really sick at Sectionals and couldn't keep anything down for 2 days, so I haven't been able to go anywhere.

Yes, Cali felt great with all of the attention she received! She kept telling me that she didn't think she deserved everything she received because she didn't bring in as much money as Austin did. I told her she did an excellent job and that she deserved every bit of it! She plans to continue to make and sell crafts to benefit our county's Special Olympics program. She's been busy working on them everyday of Spring Break! We are thinking of setting up a website for her to sell her crafts and possibly receive donations for supplies, as we have been paying for all her supplies for her. Just trying to come up with a neat name for it before we get started.
