I have a male dog who has a slight urinary incontinence problem ( caused by surgery, there is not help) He wears the female dog diapers and they help, but not enough, everything seems to get 'off center, when he sleeps. I need to get baby diapers for him, but never having one I dont know how to figure size? He wears the XL dog diaper, its almost too big, the L was too small. He weighs maybe 45 lbs? Hes a blue heeler. TIA!! Heather and Dallas

Heather, I used them on my basset for about a year that had the same problem. I bought the biggest baby size but didn't put them on like a diaper, but like a belly band around his flanks. The tapes snugged everything up to the right size even when it shifted their was still enough diaper on each side to soak up the dribbles.

Ohhh great idea! Never thought about putting it on like that, bet it would be cooler too! Poor little man, he knows he isnt supposed to tinkle in the house so he gets this absolutely dejected look on his face. All I can do is hug him and tell him its ok, no this fault after all. Thanks for the idea!

You know, they do make doggy diapers just for male dogs too. Might be cheaper and more comfortable in the long run. We used to use two baby diapers wrapped but they didn't work that well. I have seen the male dog style in Petsmart.

Hmmm the one I bought, from Petsmart a few years ago, is denim and has a waterproof area that you attach a pad to ( theirs are tiny, I use feminine napkins) it may be the male or universal type since that area does cover enough for him. Problem is when he lays down he gets to squiggling and it moves the pad
