WE all feel like prices are terrible in todays market and , looking at recent sales reports, it has certainly been a buyers market. Boy I wish I had been at the Heritage sale , I would have come home with a few mares myself. Anyway. I recently entered into a barter with two farms and got real quality mares and what I feel were good price equivalents for the horses I was selling.
I want to thank John Herring from JHK Miniatures in OK for purchaseing my stallion Michigans Remmington Steel and wish him continued success with him. PArt of his payment was this lovely little mare, DWH Bantams Little Day Dream, a Bantam Buckeroo daughter who is bred to Little Kings Buck Caesar, a Buckeroo son. This is my first Buckeroo bred mare all 31 inches of her, and , John, I think you measured her big, shes not that tall here and I dont think Worleys shrunk her on the way! lol
Also wanted to thank Dr Cheryl Powell for my little Marily Monroe, a little palamino 31 incher bred for 2009 which we bartered for my big ASPC AMHR mare L&Ks Mikes Red Rose Edition.
So you see, you can still make changes, sell horses, buy horses and come out ok. We are reducing the size of our horses , not the size of our herd because our farm patronage has changed. We have lots more kids and elderly that visit and help out and my hot Bs are just a bit too much for them and they get frightened. The littler horses are less threatening to them.
Who would have thought that I would be having more littles than bigs!!! lol we are enjoying them tho.
I have a friend with scottish deer hounds and we laugh together because now her three dogs are bigger than 5 of my horses!
Introducing our little Dream girl.
Happy shopping , guess I have to rennew my AMHA membership eh?
Thanks again John and Cheryl.
