The vet gave me some insight into equiox. A quarter of a tablet can sometimes not contain a quarter of the medication. The tablet has filler; it was designed for a big horse, which consumes the whole tablet. By breaking it into fourths, due to the filler, a miniature horse may not get the correct dosage. The new pain med he has ordered is a liquid, so there is no margin for inaccurate dosage.
Bill has been on a half tablet for 2 days. It's made a big difference. He ranged quite far today, grazing, and I did not see him lay down. He is certainly very lame an moves like a very old man. But he is eating well and all his plumbing works great. So, we shall see how the new med works out for him.
Rusty is taking good care of him.
Thank you for all the good thoughts, my miniature friends.
