Hee Hee, I think Lavonne has it right! And Im including myself in the stubborn category for sure. But thats what it takes to breed appys.

I have a mare that is a minimal snowflake appaloosa and bred to two different pinto stallions produced a snowflake pintaloosa mare and a loud blanketed pintaloosa colt so the minimal appies can most definitely throw spots. And on the topic of breeding appy to appy I bred the same mare to a leopard stallion and got a solid black filly that will snowflake out like the mare.

Mars is bred back to the sire of Little Bit of Magic so we are excited to see what she throws this time and then she will be bred to my new near leopard Monte Carlo for 2012. I am also going to be pretty stubborn since I LOVE my appies, even minimal apps are gorgeous in their own way!

OMG Lavonne, too funny! Laurie, I agree with you! Where would she have gotten such an idea that we're bull headed or stubborn??

Yes, there are some gorgeous appaloosas being produced these days, but you are right. Appys are frustrating some times. I KNOW first hand about leopard bred to leopard = solid foal! Then you get a loud color foal out of a solid! You just have to stick with it! Especially, since 2-4 years down the line that "solid" foal could be beautifully appaloosa patterned! But bull headed and stubborn? Hmmmm.......

Been there too, two loud appy parents and solid black foal. Seems like if you EXPECT a loud foal, the "Appy Fates" send you a solid just to remind you that you are not the one in control, lol!

I've been stubbornly and bull-headedly (is that a word?) plugging away at it for a long time now, and I have no intentions of giving up. I used to say, I never thought I was a gambler, until I started breeding appaloosas. *grin*
