Marbles came home today. It has been a long tough week. She is nursing and eating grass hay. Her temp is back to normal, but wound care will continue for a while yet. (should be fun to do as I live alone, especially when she is feeling better.

I would like to thank all of you who where so kind enough to help with the vet bill (being a Realtor with no business because of the economy su--ks. Money is more than tight here). I would also like to thank my vet for realizing how special this little filly is with her unique coloring. He gave me a bit of a discount and gave me time to pay the bill, otherwise I would never have been able to save her.

Too many vets in my area want the money up front before they even start anything.

One can not insure a 2 month old foal, especially one born on the farm.

I recieved the kit from the University of California Davis. I had the vet take two vials of blood for them. I pulled mane and tail hairs from the two different colors. They are doing all of the color tests, blood tests and DNA tests on her. All of the blood and mane hairs are being mailed today. So, hopefully we will have some answers in a few weeks.

My vet feels that she looks just like a tigress.

I am glad that she is home with you all!...

I know things is very hard and only TRUST in God to help us get through this. ;)

God Bless!

I haven't posted before, but have followed your dear and so-unique little filly's story with great interest; I'm SO glad to hear she's home and doing well; the BEST of wishes that she continues to do so! And kudos to your vet, for his/her? understanding and cooperation...

I am so glad that Marble is home and doing better. Your Vet is certainly a jewel to help the way he did! I know the other post for donations is gone but I know that Peggy, aka Albahurst, is still able to take donations if any are so inclined.

Way to go Marbles, and may you get really strong fast and give Sue lots of "fun" changing the bandage!

I am glad she is feeling better and on the mend. Just for future reference you can insure foals and once they are over 30 days it is easier to get a policy. They are just a bit more costly then insuring a yearling I know with my insurance company and I am sure others one requirement is on a foal under 30 days old you need to submit a IgG test

I look forward to hearing about all her DNA results

From 2 foals with colic. Filly 2 was Marbles

The foals had tummy aches from being out on green grass in their pasture which created a lot of gas and made them colic.Filly #1 has pretty much gotten past it and is coming home today.

Filly #2 was much worse yesterday. She had a fever, an elevated white count, and was very bloated, so a decision had to be made about surgery. She had surgery last night and they found that she had flipped her colon and it was about to burst because of so much gas build-up. They un-flipped it, flushed her out and aspirated the gas in the colon. She is holding her own today, and is starting to nurse. She is not out of the woods yet but hopefully she will be home in a couple of days.

Thanks for your continued prayers.
