You guys did it again! This place is like consumer reports for horsie items. Those of you that had them said the busy snackers were great. so I cautiously ordered some. I took advantage of the buy 3 three get 1 free offer.

My main purpose, We are going on vacation, I needed a way for my father to measure out an adequate amount of hay for each mini, without massively over feeding or grossly under feeding them, and I wanted to supply him with an easy way to feed them in the evening. I thought, if these things work, he (my father) can fill them up at his leasure, pick the stalls, water, hang the bags and close the stall doors until the horses get put in for the night. Then all he has to do is put them in the stalls and put their enrich 32 over the wall into the feed bins.

These things seem like they are going to work great. They hold the perfect amount, are well made, and I am guessing they will take about 3-4 hours for one of my minis to empty.

a BIG thanks goes out to all that posted about these things. I am running a trial run on them right now, LOL.

P.S.

No worries about feet getting tangled up in them either!!!!!

Feels great going on vacation with the family and minimizing my worries.

Nice to know. While I haven't used the busy snackers yet but I have the hay nets with the 2" holes and love them. It takes the horses longer to eat their food and keeps them busy. I wouldn't trade them for anything.

Carolyn, I just got my first one in the mail today, and my smallest mini took right to it. It looks sturdy enough to last forever. This one is a trial, I also just got in the mail today three of the Freedom Feeder slowfeeder/haynets. Two mini size, and one large. I hope they last because they don't look very sturdy. But both were recommended on another clubsite for horses I belong too.

Wish I would have seen the special!

I have had my two for years! When I can afford it, I'd love to buy more.

The Busy Snackers are Very popular in this area of Canada, and I have seen three or four farms using them. One farm at a show had 6 or 7 horses, and one Snacker for each horse.

I love mine.

Congrats on yours!

I have had mine for the minis for almost a year. I use them every day and they show no signs of wear. When we bought our Fjord in April I ordered one for him (bigger than the snacker size) and his is holding up great as well. No sign of wear. It is great as it really slows them down and I think my horses like playing around with them. I def. recommend them

The website is busy horse

The special was earlier this year, but we just emailed and asked if they had any promotions going on and they offered the buy 3 get 1 free to us.

The busy snacker size is a the perfect size for 1 mini for a feeding. The bag is very heavy duty, even if it doesn't appear that way in the photos.

I know of a place that has a few mini donkeys and a mini horse that have the busy buffet tacked up on a barn wall that faces their corral. That thing seems HUGE, the critters seem to love it, they are always chowing down when I drive by.

I'm using Busy Snackers in my show barn with my show horses this summer. They work great and give the horses something to do for hours. I definitely recommend them.

Ditto here!! Have been using the busy snackers all year for the horses that are in the barn and just love them!! They're great at shows also. I've been wanting to get more....I'll have to see if they'll extend that buy 3 get one free offer!!

Email them, the form must be outdated. Under the FAQs section, it states they ship internationally.

Since about 5 farms in Ontario DO have them, Yes, I can tell you they WILL ship to Ontario! I simply had to e-mail them and they did, it just changes the way I ordered... The down side is it is expensive!

I think it was almost $45 to ship... But it has been a while. Maybe others will know more.

How long do these keep the horses busy, say, with the small busy snacker with 1.5 hole? Do they keep them busier than the Miller's small mesh hay nets? I have the Miller's small mesh hay nets and I put 1/2 bale in it and the bale was gone in about 6 hours - way too much hay. So, back to the drawing board. Mine just sits at the gate all day. On a dry lot -gets fed hay at 7am and 7pm but in-between dry lot boredom. Thought of ordering some of these but the small mesh doesn't keep very long - maybe double bag it? I have a hay net I made out of a fishing net that has one inch holes - not sure if she gets hay out of it though. Any suggestion?

I have tried it with 3 horses so far. Two of the three are major piggies. On average it takes them a minimum of 3 hours to empty the bag. This is the busy snacker size that holds the right amount for one mini size serving, approx 1/2 of a flake from the standard small bales (40-50lb bales).

They look great but what advantage have they over the tiny holed haynets that I currently use?

I have three different sizes, the smallest taking enough for one night, the largest, that I use in winter, taking half a bale.....

Rabbitsfizz - how large are the holes in your nets? Does the hay last all night? I put half a bale in mine and it was empty in about six hours - way too much hay. Is there a way to slow them down? How many do you feed at one net?

I don't know which issue it is, me being a control freak or me being a worry wart, but I got the bags because it simplifies feedings for my father that will be caring for our herd while we are vacationing. The bags are the perfect serving size and I feel at ease knowing their feet will not get tangled in the bag. I haven't been able to find a hay bag I feel certain that their feet will not get tangled in if they are obsessively pawing at. I also know haybags tend to stretch and give these are a bit more rigid.

The last time we contacted them they said they would no longer be shipping to Canada. Too bad since they sold quite a few here.
