Trimming ends will meet if handles are pulled away from each other. That should be a clue there

would not be for ice unless picking up little cubes. lol

Actually when you pull the handles apart the "mouth" gets bigger.

I think it is a tool that was used many years ago to pull the nails out of a hoof.Years ago all horseshoe nails were handmade and had a larger square head than those of today.Nail heads were pounded into surface of hoof and bent over.with this tool they were straightened enough to get a grip on the head and then pulled from the hoof and away from the shoe which could be reused in some cases.that's my story and I'm stickin to it.

Don't know what it is but I know it is not meant for trimming anything. Those "biting edges" are very wide and flat--you would have a heck of a hard time trying to cut anything with them!

Maybe something to use as a pot handle gripper thing for something that might be cooked over a fire or wood stove? You can use it to put the pot on and off the fire but not leave it attached so it wouldn't get hot. reaching here

I'm pretty sure they are antique bull nose ring pliers. The little nubs on the ends have been worn or broken off.

I have antique bull nose pliers here, You could never wear off those nubs to flat blades like that, but it is a good guess.

I was googling glass pliers yesterday but couldn't find a decent photo of any that matched but dragon wish might have an idea there... that was one of my guesses.

I know one thing, if we see something at a flea market or yard sale and cannot figure out what it is easily, we usually buy it if we can afford it. good job on finding something nobody can figure out what it is.

Once I picked up an "unknown" thing that looked like a funnel with a funny end on it, but it had a strange metal insert with a slot in it. Found out it was a "fish horn" when I saw one at an antique display.

pretty cool and fun thread

I still have no clue! But thanks everyone for all the guesses. I'm leaning toward Sonya and Kendra's guess. But... you never know. I do have one more option to try to identify it. The cranky old man that lives next door may be able to help figure it out.(He's my FIL

)If I do get a confirmation on any one of your guesses I'll let you all know!

I agree!!! And Thanks! It was fun! I kept checking every time I got a break at work! LOL!!!

They are Heifer rings used to hold recalcitrant cows/heifers or immature (unringed) bulls.
