I have two, a Frontier Easy Entry which is ok, but cramped for me with my bad knees, so I just got a new Pacific Smart Cart which is super adjustable and will have the leg room I need. Super pricey, but loads of leg room and no more flat tires and since we do a lot of trail driving that is important to me.

:aktion033: Thanks can you tell me where to get them? I would like to see them both, any pictures? Thanks again, Renee

We have an easy entry from American Cart and Harness- it's worked great for us- we use it for pleasure, breaking, and trail drives. It's survived a couple wrecks, and was really easy to put together. They have a website, I think it might be www.americancartandharness.com - but a google search should turn it up real quickly

I would love smart cart how I wish I didnt need a seperate cart for showing... wonder if you could show locally in a smart cart some show in a EE?

I'm hoping to get a Hyperbike. I think they look like so much fun! And very comfy for the horse. I can't wait :aktion033:

They are all good carts. I have a Hyperbike which I love but you can't carry passengers or a lot of baggage for long drives. Pacific Smart Carts are awesome (and WHY a $2,000 top-of-the-line cart is considered "not fancy enough" for the breed ring I don't know! :new_shocked: ) but are, again, pricy for a beginner. My choice would be a nice cheap sturdy versatile Frontier easy entry cart. Heck, I've started with a fancier cart and am now going back to a Frontier for training!

My cart of choice for fun and comfort is the Hyperbike by Graham Carriage Works.

I've had mine since 1999, and it's great!

Ok,, here is one for you all with the hyberbikes.... Have any of you gotten to drive in his other model?

If so...how did you like it?

We use the Jerald Runabout for all of our driving around here. Bought one some years back and now use it for training. It has been banged, turned over and twisted around and it has taken all punishment and still keeps going.

We have since gotten two new ones for parades and such. Being a bit heavier and with some knee problems, hubby and I have no problem with leg room in this cart and the seat is 42" wide. I went to the website earlier this evening and found that the price has gone up to $750. You can see it at Jeraldsulky.com.

If I were going to get a cart nice enough to show in and inexpensive enough to train in, I think I would get a cart from Boinky here on the forum. When I got my cart several years ago I went with a wood pleasure cart with the pneumatic wheels from Pequea Carriage Shop and I still just LOVE it. It was built for my horse with longer shafts and stained the color I wanted. I think they are both around $650 to start if I am not mistaken.

I also though I would add to this post that I bought a really good easy entry cart from eBay (something like TT MINIS or something similar. They only sell mini tack though) I will look it up to see if I can find it. I bought it with a team pole and shafts (4 bolts to interchange them) and I am very happy with it. For just the cart it was about 395.00 plus shipping (like 100.00) and the team pole included was 495.00 plus shipping (175.00, 200.00 to Canada) If you want I can look up them and give you there info!

I would like that...I was looking on ebay and found one for $275 plus shipping and I was concerned about that sellers feedback, let me know your sellers contact info, Thanks a bunch, Ren

For what you are looking for a Hyperbike for sure. LOVE it! I have a jerald easy entry which is just too heavy except on flat smooth ground. It sits unused. Since my play driving is in the hills of NH on narrow trails the Hyperbike more then does the job. Its comfy, can turn on a dime, is lightweight enough that my little guy can (well with a head start) make it up even long hills. Its light enough that if I had to carry it or pull it through the woods it would be no problem. I have bad knees but find that if the foots rests are adjusted properly I am fine.

For the most versatile( i.e.,room for a passenger, EASY to mount and dismount from), moderately-priced, everyday/training cart, I too would recommend Frontier--I believe it to be the 'industry standard' for its type.

Be very cautious about 'knockoffs' or 'off brands' that "look like" Frontiers, off ebay or anywhere else. I have seen SEVERAL that, though they 'appeared' much the same, were in fact very heavy, or improperly built/not properly balanced, or had other problems--and if your horse is uncomfortable in it, you WILL have problems.

Hyperbikes ARE light, and stable (they have a wide wheel base, and sit you right up 'next to' the horse)-but have no basket-your feet either have to dangle, or be up in the stirrups. They are in essence, a sulky-and of course, there is no room for any passenger.(Question for those who have them...do they have a singletree?)

What you get should depend on YOUR specific needs and wants...I would recommend buying quality, though-no matter what you choose.

My husband makes carts for pleasure driving on road, or for show at fairs, etc. They come with road wheels so easy to replace or fix if need be. He charges $600 a cart, shipping not included and is currently working on one for a mini farm in Ontario. :aktion033: I have one and love it. It is very comfy, lots of leg room, can carry 2 people and has a spot under seat for stuff, like picnic basket, bucket, etc. You can see photos on my website in for sale section. They look heavy but are very light actually.
