Tomorrow is the 4H soup supper and auction and I made a New York Cheesecake for the auction.

The recipe says I can use cherry pie filling for topping or just leave it off, well I think it would look nicer if it was topped with the cherry pie filling but I don’t know about putting it on the cheesecake 3 hours in advance?? I happen to love cheesecake but without topping but I want it to look pretty for the people with a sweeter taste than me. Can I put the filling on top 3 hours ahead? Other ideas for top?

I just hope I can leave it all alone until tomorrow

I have to keep telling myself it goes for a good cause, the cheesecakes sell for around $40.00 or more at auction with the proceeds going to 4H.

Wait until just before it is presented and THEN add the cherries. I agree it makes a much more delectable presentation all pretty. Good luck!
 
It should be fine. Other toppings are canned blueberries, drizzled chocolate, & sliced kiwi. I know what you mean about it lasting until tommorrow, they don't last long in this house! Good Luck too!
 
I make the mini chessecakes (very easy...and for the bottom crust just add a vanilla wafer) I put the toppings on the night before the event and the next day they're just as pretty and yummy. We do ours with cherries and blueberries.
 
If you have to put it on in advance I would drain the cherries as much as possible and use them. the extra 'liquid' may seep in and color the cheesecake or soften the crust. Now ya dun did git me hungry fer cheesecake

I have been a caterer in a past life, so here is advice from that life. As long as you put it in the fridge after adding the glaze, topping, it will be fine. If you leave it out, it can seperate adn look really .....well...um...er..odd!!
