It was a long cold 10 hour day, but Cleo is home. She didn't want to get in the trailer and it took about 15 minutes to get her in. It was very icy out and she was slipping. She FINALLY went in though.

I sent her to her ex owner's house with 36 bows in her mane and tail. MOST of then were still in!! Others were gone but still had the wire sticking out. It was snowing and dark by the time we got home so I have to wait to take them out till tomorrow. What this tells me is that her new ex owner did not even brush Cleo! She did say she had only been out of her stall once or twice in the 2 week time since she arrived because of her poor choice in fencing. One of her other horses ran through it and broke it down. She could not fix it because the ground is frozen. So, an inexperienced woman alone in a new home with broken down fencing and 4 horses is just not a good combo.

I am relieved Cleo is home.

What kind of horse is Cleo? I see posts about her doing dressage? Is she a draft horse?

I think Cleo was sending you signals to come get her and sounds like you were right to go pick her up and she's probably glad she's home. Of course vacations can always be taken in NC

Very glad she's home. Doesn't sound like that was a good situation at all. Goodness if someone would neglect a horse when they first got it one can only imagine her fate. You sure dodged that bullet and I hope her next home is everything you could ever ask for.

OMG... what kind of person was Cleo with??? I have a firend down the street from us, tha thas QH's and she wants to get a mini. I can't tell you how much time I've spent telling her, it's just not her cup of tea... I don't want any horse at her house, because of the fencing. The first mini we purchased, the owner's son came to look at our property and our fencing... even checked to see if the horses could get to the phone lines... Also, she told me, her vet would be at our house when he arrived, in order for the vet to check him out in front of me. I knew a vet had checked him, and we had gotten a bill, he was still on her property, but she wanted to make sure I knew nothing had happened in the few days in between!!!!

I cannot believe that she didn't even take the bows out... I'd have been taking photos... and then brushing her like mad...

Heck, I love our horses so much, I was just outside, laying next to our QH.. kissing on her, laying in the dirt with her in my new jammies and bathrobe... she was talking.... and I was talking.. and we had a good time. Heck, if we didn't have three kids I knew were finished watching the movie.. I'd have stayed out longer. Lol..

God Bless you and Cleo... I'm so glad she's back home, safe and sound. maybe there's a reason for it.

This is what she looked like when she left.

I will post pictures of her in the morning of her now. She looks almost the same except for a LOT of broken hair and wires sticking out. Poor girl.

The lady I sold her too did the right thing and I am just glad she realized it after only 2 weeks instead of 2 years!!

God Bless,

You are so lucky Cleo can reach out to you and she is lucky you listen to her. She needed you.

Thankfully the woman called you and wanted to get her back to you.

How very sad, glad you got her back. Have you considered having Bonnie chat with her about her attitude and then listing her for sale on our very own LB Sales Page? It would be so great if one of "our" family fell in love with her. Is she glad to be home?

Here are some pictures of the old bows. It took me an hour to get out the braids and a lot of hair was broken off. CJ, Cleo's brother, took some of them out for her over night. Cleo was left locked in her stall and only let out twice for cleaning. She was kept in the barn at that time behind ropes to keep her from wandering off into the rest of the barn. The underside of her tail was caked with poop. Cleo was in a seperate part of the barn than the other horses. She did have a pigmey goat for company though. I am SOOOO relieved I got her back and all she had was broken hair and a poopie tail. It could have been so much worse. Greenhorse need a lot of education before they get a bunch of horses.

And here is CJ, Cleo's brother. His mane is roached because he rubs it out in the summer. He is allergic to fly bites. So, at least I didn't have to cut Cleo's mane off to match her brother's!!

Awwww poor sweetie. She looks glad to be home with her family.

She is very glad to be back and CJ is glad too. He loves his sister.

I am planning on having Bonnie come out in the Spring and work with me and Slick, so maybe I can have her chat with Cleo too.

She is still beautiful and don't ya know she probably liked getting her hair brushed out. I know my mini did when I got him a couple of years ago as a baby, kids took some scissors to him and cut him all over, he's my special boy now. I know she's happy and greatful she is home. Hugs to you and her.

She is feeling much better now that she is home. What a terrible person I am for sending her there.

I might think about selling her again and if I do, I will post here here, but for now, she is home. I don't think I can go through this again.

I must say that was very cute how you sent her off with all her bows

I cannot believe the lady never removed them??

How strange that she would not have removed them when she knew you were picking her up?
