Here's one, When I bought her (and didn't know squat about the Champagne Color) she was registered as a dun, as was her dam (who has been proven to be a Champagne as well). DNA color tested for just about everything to prove her Champagness she tested Ee aa nCh nCr Making her a Classic Cream Champagne
She was bred when I bought her to a registered Black stallion (and he looked Jet black) and she produced this. She tested ee aa nCh CrCr so is a Gold Double Cream Champagne or a Cremello Champagne (the first miniature documented this color actually anjd only 1 of I think 4 total horses this color), Not many would pick that up by looking at her, and that made her sire be a smokey black rather than a black.
Don't have a picture on this computer, but my stud's dam was registered as brown, when she was clearly a sliver black.
