Computer Question - New CPU & Old Monitor

I found some really good deals at Best Buy for Compaq Presarios. If I buy just the CPU, will it be compatable with my OLD Compaq monitor? My monitor is about 10 years old and works great, just wondering if it'll work with a new CPU.

Just about any monitor should work. If you have Windows XP on it, it should find the correct information. You may have to go to the compaq site and download new drivers. we bought a new gateway cpu, and kept the 6 year old sony monitor works fine just plugged it in, and good to go.

I tried that and it didn't work. Had to go back and get the new monitor. Obviously it depends on age and updates in technology.

Thanks everyone for you help! I ended up getting a great deal on a Compaq Presario CPU and a Gateway monitor -- I am soooo happy to have a working computer again!!!
