Let me start by saying that you wont hurt my feelings with the critic!

Meet Jack. He is 3 years old and is still a colt but to be gelded in the fall. Summer came in March this year so I wasn't prepared to geld then, too busy with work. He is a very good natured little guy standing at 31 inches. When he steps out his tail goes up and he is very animated. He is not in shape but is starting driving training. It will be another year before I consider doing anything more the ground driving with him.

Just wondering what you guys think of him.

It is so hard to really give a good criteque of a horse with pictures like these and I know it is hard to get good photos but if you really want an opinion of your horse photos straight from the side at the horses level, straight from the front and straight from the back...these are looking down on the horse, distorts him. Differant pictures will give a much truer impression of his conformation....I think there is a better horse here then the photos are showing!

I think if he wasnt so afraid of the big scary camera and would put his ears up he'd be cute as can be....his eyes are saying let me get back to my hay LOL

I see nothing bad or ugly!!!

Ok here are some more pics! Hopefully these are better. Out of the 30 more that I took, I only got 2 ok ones. I'm a bad photographer. lol

I'm crazy about his colorations and markings. I'm an app person and I think he's fancy. Sorry I don't do conformation critiques.

If you want crazy app markings I have another one for you to look at. I have no idea what color she is. I will start another thread with her once I get some pictures.

im a foot person so im sayin his heals are a lil high. makes hime look clubby when hes not. other then that, his head looks a lil big but nothing else jumps out at me. like his color!

He's certainly colorful! While I don't think he has that extra "it" factor to make a top stallion, I think you'll have one heck of a fancy gelding! He's put together fairly balanced, so should be a fun all around horse for you.

I like him! Like others have said I would not consider him a top stallion candidate but he is balance and I think would make a nice country or western driving horse and boy would he stand out in the ring!! Nice hip, good neck, head a bit plain but nice...the one thing I do not like is his shoulder angle is a bit steep...also he needs his angles corrected mostly on his front feet.

I agree with the plain head and too much heel left on his feet- he needs to come down some on his heels. I think he would make a great gelding for you.

Just chiming in to say I love how strong his legs look - I am not fond of pencil thin legs.

I know that his heels aren;t cut enough, I have been telling the farrier to take more off everytime he comes out. I might just start filing them down a little each week myself.

Jack is such a cutie to deal with, quiet and calm. I can't wait to get him driving. He is very animated with his movements when he trots around the fields.

I agree with the others in that your fellow is nicely balanced with a strong shoulder and great hip and straight legs. He also has a super tail set. He doesn't have the araby head and he's heavier boned than most judges like these days, so I'd shy off showing him in open halter. But showing him as a gelding in any performance classes is a super idea! If you do want to try halter, your best bet would be letting a youth show him in a gelding class or a color class.

What do you want to do with him? Have fun? absolutely geld. IMO he's not top stallion material but would make an amazing gelding to play with. He could also make a nice performance horse.

He's a lovely little fellow with beautiful colouring. He has some issues, as others have mentioned, but is in fact, a lot better than hundreds of Minis being bred today. Bravo to you, for gelding. I wish so many more, would follow suit. I'm sure he will be a flashy little driving horse.

Thanks everyone for the nice words. He is such a sweet little guy, gelding will only make him better. He has been living the life of solitude long enough. The vet feels that since is so laid back even with the girls in the next pen that he will be able to join the mixed group after he heals from gelding. I let him out with my other gelding when they are in pasture and he is great with him, even when the girls are in heat.
