Any SUPER deals or BIG rip offs that you have purchased? Just kinda curious!

I have shopped and sold both on Ebay and here on the Little Horse Barn and have had pretty good experiences on both!

But I think my best deal ever was on Ebay. I won an auction for a Dept. 56 Snow Village house for $.99 with free shipping! Brand New! WOO HOO!!

My biggest rip off (Ebay also)....was some Jeep Wrangler tail gate hinges! They are such garbage I can't even open the door with out it sagging! Waste of money BUT they look pretty! LOL!

Good experiences on The Little Horse Barn!

Anyone else?

We shop Ebay all the time! have gotten some pretty good deals. Just last week DH got some new loader brackets for my farm tractor for when we go to put a loader on it. They were worth $500, and he got them for $5 +$35 shipping.

I have bought Breyer horses on there, some REALLY super and some not so much. Now I ONLY buy if the pics are super clear and I make SURE the model pictured is the actual model for sale. You'd be surprised how many people "borrow" (steal?) pix from the identify your Breyer website and try to pass them off. I've been bit three or four times, once was a Peter Stone that was close so it wasn't a big deal, another was a dapple grey Arabian that was STUNNING in the ad but what I got was a trashed, beat up model, and the third was an appy yearling that also was stunning in the pic but the model I got was totalled. I returned both models, got recompensated for the App but screwed on the Arab. Also bought a QH yearling that was refurbished, got my $$ back and got to keep the model if I didn't leave negative feedback.

But I've also bought models that was simply stunning and BETTER than the ad's description.

So... do your homework and buyer beware!

I have bought and sold on ebay alot. Overall never any problems except once. I bought a satelitte dish for directv, the guy sent me the wrong one, but would only return my $ if I paid the shipping to return it to him (which was more than the cost of the dish)...he was a real jerk.

I buy some on Ebay with most of them being pleasant experiences; however, I did have a bad one. I paid for a silver show halter for biggies and they never sent the item. Thank goodness they had sent me a USPS ship date and therefore it went into some type of fraud department and I eventually did get it.

I have certain colors of lipstick that is no longer in production that I buy as well as perfume. I also bought every Care Bear 12 or so years ago because my daughter loved them and I way over paid for those but you know what we all do to make our kids happy. Goodness, now they are available in stores again.

I buy on ebay. I have bought coins, Disney figurines, clippers, blades, halters and harnesses. Oh yeah, I got my easy entry cart too. I only got burned in 1 set of clippers (wouldn't work when they had a blade on even after they were rebuilt), 1 set of blades (took me a month and getting the seller kicked off of ebay and still got the wrong blades) and my EE cart (the wheel bearings went out after the 3rd trip out). My harnesses and halters came from someone I trust and I have gotten super deals on gold, gold coins, Morgan dollars and the Disney figurines. If you have the money to snatch up the deals Ebay is fun.

Now you are speaking my language!

Many years ago, I was one of the first people, to join and buy and sell on ebay. It was much nicer in those days. Almost everything was used and the prices were wonderful. I hate now that ebay is full of cheaply made, new products.

I have always been a lover of antiques and made some terrific buys in the early days. I also sold many items there. I purchased many Victorian mantel clocks there and sold a few too. I purchased a huge, glass, Victorian thumbprint red globe, for a lamp I already had. Even anitque globe experts, have told me they've seen them in books, but never one in person and it is an original. I have purchased many designer clothes at crazy cheap prices. I have a large collection of antique, courting couple plates. My favourite buy, was my antique, Vicotrian silver teaset. I got it for a song. I also got a Ted Flowers, silver saddle for next to nothing. It came with breastplate, bridle etc. I sold it later. Wish I hadn't now though. All from ebay years ago. Tons more which I cannot even remember now. Having shown dogs and horses all my life, I finally sold all my silver trophies and plates on ebay.

Some thoughts. If you wish to sell, take superb pictures of the item. Don't take a picture showing your home in a mess. Make sure the colour is correct in the photo. Make sure everything is clean and sparkling. Be honest about the item. Photograph up-close, every tiny crack etc. Don't call something an antique if it isn't and you cannot prove it. An antique is considered 100 years old or older. Make sure if you sell a designer item, it really is one and not a knock-off. Ebay will take you to task if they see you doing it.

If you sell, make sure you pack the item extremely well. Nobody wants an item delivered, damaged because of poor packaging. I charge shipping but not handling.

If you buy, check out the seller's past sales and what the buyers had to say. Make sure the seller isn't out of the country. That could add a whole lot of money for shipping. If the seller is close, you can sometimes pick up the item in person.

Been buying and selling on eBay for a very, very long time. I agree that it used to be way more "fun" but it's still good if you get familiar with it and know what you're doing. You can get some great deals.

I also like Craigslist, it's like eBay for items that are too big or heavy to ship easily... and a little more like an online garage sale.

I check ebay just about daily and am always buying things - so I use it a lot and have never been scammed. Except one time I ordered a lot of ladies Divine razor refills as I saved a lot of money, normally buy the pack of 10 at walmart for $22 and thought maybe I could save some cash and got alot of 20 for $10 and they sent me these off brand ones, ugh (I am picking about my razors and only use one kind).

I recently got some homemade mini / pony blankets really cheap off email that I actually am loving for general barn use. They were $12-$17 and for the price, they are doing a good job. They are medium weight winter blankets and hold up good.

I order mostly horse stuff, every one in a while I will order some clothes - oh and show jackets!

At one point I got together a bunch of things I didn't use and listen them on ebay and when all was done, I made over $300 ...and just getting rid of some of my junk that I didn't use (horse stuff).

Oh, yeahhh. Audio books, jeans, shirts, and Birkenstocks. Best find ever was a new hoodie for 99 cents. It was yellow and blue and had Nashville Country Music logos. Got a brand new still in wrapper Janet Evanovich audio book last week. After using my earned ebucks my cost was just over two dollars.
