Do you read too much?

Only when I'm home and reading one of those "can't put it down" books for 2-3 hrs in a row when I really should be doing something else. But that doesn't happen often anymore. I read mostly at work when the kids are playing or at school.

Despite the bite it takes out of my TV time, I don't feel at all guilty about it

Sometimes I do feel guilty about my "reading habit." For me, it comes in spells: I'll devour 3 books in 3 days, barely moving from the recliner except to feed animals (forget cooking for myself + husband; if I'm reading, dear hubby knows to fend for himself!), then I'll go a month without reading anything at all. Mostly I feel guilty because my "spells" are usually over a weekend when we could be out doing more productive activities.

Yeah, there's been times when my hubby wants to watch something and I tell him I can't. But thats only when a book is really, really good or I'm just about finished. Other then that, he likes to play video games or watch boring shows, so thats a perfect time for me to read. I've also not wanted to go down town or to someone's house before because I've wanted to read instead, but since I'm a homebody anyway, that doesn't really count. ;)

.

Only when I consider that I could get a great deal of writing done in the time I spend reading. Then I think, I could waste time doing something truly pointless, like cleaning house, and I feel much better!

Thanks Susanne! That gave me a well needed chuckle.

Earlier I was outside doing yardwork, which I was NOT happy about. I was working and my temper was simmering, and I kept thinking to myself, 'I could be inside reading right now!' Lol.

Do I read too much? Probably.... lol. I get pretty obsessive about it if I am in a good book, and snatch time whenever/wherever I can including staying up way too late reading and then regretting it the next morning.

I do this all the time! I know not to bring a book to bed with me on a work night if I have fifty pages or less, because I will not go to sleep until I finish those "few" pages.

You cannot read too much, it is not possible. Every time you open a book you learn something, you may not realise at the time what it is but you do, and it comes back to you at another time. I read at night, so I often fall asleep, wake up at 2am and put the book away and go to sleep properly, it's great. When I am waiting for foals it is a great way to spend my time, I do not find TV as engaging.

There are a couple TV shows I don't want to miss, but hands down -- it's my books that I most enjoy

I don't think so-though exercise suffers from the preference to read. My husband USED to say I would rather read than pay any attention to him at all, but now he has become an avid reader too and has his favorite authors.
