Im looking at buying some clippers, and Im very keen on the Double K's as I have herd how fantastic they are, but which one does everyone recommend?

The belt mount one with the 6ft cable?

portable model with 10 or 12ft?

Or the Table Model with 10 or 12ft?

Which one does everyone else recommend?

The larger clipper - its not for your belt - with the longer cable is what we use. The short cable was way to short!

I agree-that is what I use too! Looked at the others and pondered the same question you did. My husband told me the belt type looked cumbersome, but since I did not buy that model, I can't speak for that. We like the longer cable too. I LOVE mine!

I would recommend the longer cable, I have found that you need the length when clipping around the horses body. Then you can reach in all the places you need to without running out of cable.

I would not use anything else since we bought our Double K a few years ago. We used to body clip our entire show string with two sets of Oster A-5, two speed clippers, alternating between the two when one got too hot. Talk about taking forever ! The Osters have it's place and I still use them to trim up with, but no more complete body clipping with Oster A-5's again.

You will love the Double K clippers.

I recently got the belt mount, haven't used it YET but I can already tell i'm really going to like it! I believe it has just the 6' cable but once clipped onto my hip, I can walk all around the horse without worring about only going so far, or tripping over a cord, or only being able to do half a horse at a time and needing to turn the horse around or move the motor to the other side...

I personally did the half-horse thing with a friend of mine back in 2005, I saw how great the double K's worked but also saw how a belt mount would work so much better so you can move freely around the horse.

I can't wait to use mine!

I got the belt one,but opted for the 12 ft cord, I can hang it and use it like a wall mount, I Love mine it clips like butter the hair just rolls off.

My next purchase will be the ceramic blades I have 4 of the regular wide ones, but still need more blades with all my crew to do.

So its just your preference on if you want a wall mount or belt clip, you can still hang the belt clip one if need be.

I have the wall mount with the 12ft cable. Just love using them and have had them for about 8 years now. Wouldn't buy anything else if I had to get new ones. I use to use oster A-5's, never again.

Bumping this up because I'm buying and I have a question. :bgrin

Everyone keeps saying "longer cord" but I'm not sure what your clipping environment is. I'll be tying my horse on the back porch of my house with an extension cord running through the back door to the outlet. I could easily add a nail to hang the motor from if I need to. Which model should I be getting? I want to be able to easily move around the horse without cord dangling across his back (across the ground is no problem.) I'm leaning toward belt mount but I'm not really sure what the difference is.

If you're in good shape the belt one shouldn't be a problem. I know some people who wouldn't even want a "fanny pack" strapped around them. The belt model is not light weight. I have one but have never "worn" it as I hang it from a pole suspended above my wash rack so I can go back and forth and around the horse without the cord trailing all over them. I believe my cord is a 6' one (it's the cord from the power unit to the clipper they are reffering to - not the power cord).

I opted for the belt model so I would have the option of taking the whole thing with me to a big show if I wanted.
