Dremel tool question

Anyone use the Dremel for removing ergots? I'm not comfortable using the hoof knife. I tried the Dremel today with the round sand paper attachment but it didn't do much. Maybe it is too worn out, or maybe some other tool is better?
Horses didn't mind it at all. Midnight was a little startled at first, but easily got used to it.

Hoof nippers are what I use.

I try to get there before him...

I use my hoof nippers too.

I just peel them off. After bath or soften them up with oil or water and they come off easy.

I've always peeled them off...if they get too tough, I have the farrier nip them off.

Someone suggested vaseline. I will try that. My fingernails are too whimpy to use as peeling tools. I've used side cutters before--forgot about that. I don't own nippers.
