Enough is enough

I have refrained from signing on to the forum for a couple of weeks for fear I would post and hurt someone's feelings. I try to ignore most of the political posts, but had to peek from time to time. It is important for us to learn all we can, but what one poster adds will not sway us. It may make us mad, but will likely not change our minds. I have been looking for a way to politely say stop it! I'm not saying all who have posted have inflamed us, but some of the posts did intimate that if we voted for a certain candidate, we were just plain stupid. We are not, we just have our own thoughts, and though they're not yours, they are valid.

Everyone, keep getting informed on both candidates, make up your minds, and please let us make up ours!

I have had to hold my fingers back several times, especially for two of the self appointed monitors on this board (none of which have posted so far on this thread) as I realize if they did not have their freedom to speak then I would have already lost my right too.

If all of us took responsibility for our own actions - and quit pointing at or blaming others.... stopped the sneering and what not - we could have more interesting political discussions.

Let's all stop the threads that are designed to stir the pot... intended to provoke... determined to keep poking and prodding. Ignore them

if they persist and continue in spite of well-intentioned threads like this one. Let's stop dragging other threads off-topic by inserting a favourite complaint again - and re-beating assorted dead horses that turned to dust long ago.

I keep trying not to respond... not to take the bait - but lack the needed willpower at times... I take full responsiibilty for that. I'll keep working on that particular weakness...
