I loved to use incense in the house to scent the air, but recently I discovered that I can no longer handle the smoke that it creates. I even bought the good expensive stuff that had minimal smoke. So I decided that I would start making oils and misters from essential oils. There is a herbal apothecary that is down the street from me that has been very helpful. I really like this. I've made a Rose Mist for my sheets and clothes, rose oil that I heat to scent the air, and a Sage and Lavender Clearing Mist. I think I'm hooked. I'm going back to get more essential oils and bottles. Does anyone else use essential oils?

Yup.... I use essential oils for me, my hubby, my children and animals. I have been using peppermint to quell morning sickness, ravensara as a protective measure in my children's bath, peace & calming for the horses when they're overly anxious about something. We also use the lavender spray for calming the kids at bed time.

I have almost every essential oil out there. I make soap, bath products and reed diffusers, and candles. If you have a problem with the smoke ...have you ever tried setting reed diffusers around your home? I use to burn candles everywhere in the house...now, I very seldom have a candle burning, but I do have deffusers in all the rooms. I love the way they keep there smell so much longer then alot of candles.

Yep. We keep a big tea pot of water on our wood stove to help balance the humidity in the air. And we put a drop of scented oil in the water.

I also like to burn scented candles during the winter months with the house all closed up for warmth.

I would like to learn how to make my OWN scents. We have the roses, the lavender, and sage grows wild.

Right now I put rose pedals in an antique rose bowl...... I make sachets of lavender for our clothes drawers.... And my niece makes sage bundles to burn.

Anyone have some other ideas?

I have been using the oil that I made in an oil diffuser but I've never tried the reed diffusers. How do those work?

I put lavender essential oil on my dogs. Fleas hate it and my doggies smell great and haven't had the first flea in ages.
