For the past two mornings, we've had temperatures hovering around 40. It feels so good after summer humidity. The trees are starting to turn colors and it's beautiful outside. No bugs so the horses are happy. I love fall!!!!!

Fall is my favorite season! As you said, the bugs go away....this has been the hottest summer and driest on record. Over 105 degrees I don't like. Give me the beautiful changing leaves, the smell of wood burning in peoples wood stove or fireplace... The cooler days, Love all of it.

There's a unique stillness in the air on Fall mornings that I just love. I noticed the ponies are starting to get a little thickness to their coats too

I agree 100%! And after this summer I am so ready for fall. We've had horrible high temps and humidity. We got another driving summer off because I could not fathom hooking Hershee up to cart in this heat and humidity. I did give the AC a rest yesterday for a few hours. But as night approached we turned it back on.

I LOVE this time of year! Now when we get to winter, I might start complaining again but I always feel so incredibly blessed to be alive in the fall. Goodbye heat and humidity for a while! BTW, Ozy talked about horses getting fuzzy. Mine are not so fuzzy again this year so I'm thinking another warm winter? Anyone else have horses who are or aren't getting their winter coats?

I'm in Delaware about 20 miles from Atlantic Ocean and my horses are VERY HAIRY already.Started growing winter coats in late July.Making me very nervous since I hate winter-cold weather and snow possibilities.the last few years I have suffered terribly in cold weather.Body changing as I age.If it is very cold my fingers will be NUMB in 15 minutes out in the cold even with any kind of glove(I have baskets of kinds of gloves that I have tried-no luck)Toes are somewhat better outside, but when I am in the house feet are always freezing. Not enough blood to extremeties.I just have to deal with it.I am not looking forward to winter.

Bevann, the last time my horses got hairy in July, we had record snowfall in Vermont. I know what you mean about winter. I like to look at the snow but not so much fun doing barn chores and handling water buckets. Brrr! I think I love fall so much because the weather is absolutely perfect!

Well last year the horses here got their winter fuzz in July. We didn't have snow until January and had record temps all winter. Have never seen anything like it up here. Was wonderful.

I do not like fall....it means winter is coming and here in Fargo, ND that means the norm is below zero weather with a LOT of snow and 30-40 mph winds on an average day. Not my thing

Where I live we are reaching the end of the coldest winter I've ever experienced. We had the 2nd coldest morning on record....minus 5 celcius (sorry) and one day the temperature didn't get above 9 degrees celcius (sorry again). Blossom trees are in business but there is little other evidence that Spring begins tomorrow. Only 11 degrees predicted for tomorrow.

I'm just hoping that a cold winter doesn't mean a hot summer. The old body can't handle the heat.......feels like it will spontaneously combust.

Hope you enjoy Autumn and that winter will be kind to you all.
