I'm not talking about insuring your individual horse(s).

We have our "farm".... the barn, outbuildings, even the house is under a "FARM insurance policy". We have a small tractor, our horse trailer, and ATV also covered with it. While Larry was transporting horses, his pickup was included too. The coverage is for liability and incase of storm/fire/robbery.

Our vehicles are on a separate "auto policy".

Who else is doing this? And what company are you using? Are you happy with the company?

I am NOT happy and am looking elsewhere if possible. We have Country Mutual Insurance and it's fuss...fuss...fuss.... We get at least six pieces of mail from them monthly JUST for the farm insurance. And then another six pieces for the auto. Most of the mailings are GARBAGE.

They waste money on sending out constant notices.......and the rates go up and up, even when we have never made a claim!

If anyone has a Farm Policy and is HAPPY or at least CONTENT (Luke-warm?) about their insurance policy, I would love to hear about it!!!

Please?

I am meeting with my agent next week about this exact type of insurance. He's a very good friend and sells Nationwide. I don't know much about it though and could update you later when mine gets set up. I will say this though, my cousin had State Farm (farm insurance) and when her horse broke a leg in the pasture, they paid all claims with no questions asked.

We are insured through Farm Family Casualty Insurance Co. We get a discount because we belong to our state Farm Bureau. We haven't had a claim (thank goodness) but don't have anything bad to say about it. We actually have more than once policy, as some are for us, and one is for the LLC that actually owns our minis.

BTW, we didn't realize that before we got this policy that our horses were NOT covered liability-wise when we took them off-property, such as to horse shows. Ironically, the same person whose young daughter was riding our big horse in lead line classes was the one who recommended this company.

We are insured under our farm policy with Farm Family too. We've been with them for a good many years and have never had a problem. They are very easy to work with. A couple of years ago when we had straight winds run thru our farm and down a few trees, they came right out and asessed the damage quickly and we were able to get things back to normal.

I have farm insurance and I'm pretty happy with it. All my buildings are cover, equpiment, tack, and horses. I have Liability, and Care Custody, and Control also (being a trainer). I use Fryes Equine Insurance Agency and they found the perfect policy's for me at the best price. They also got my home owners and vehicle insurance, and got me a discounted rate lumping them together. If you are interested in contacting them, send me an e-mail or pm and I can give you contact information.

We just switched to an American Bankers policy through an agent in Kentucky. We are near the coast in west central florida and our county has had an abnormal amount of sink holes. The farm bureau here wouldn't insure because of the horses and State Farm was canceling us because of the risk the horses posed. The American Bankers policy covers buildings including the house, equipment, could have included the vehicles but we chose to stay with Geico for that and accidental death of the horses. It also DOES COVER liability off premises. Here is the contact info for the agent in Kentucky.

We have Farm Family Casualty Insurance Co too (with a discount for belonging to the Farm Bureau)

we have had them for 11 years

for our home, barns and property, also care custody and control

as we also board horses not as many as we used to now that we have the minis

but we still have a few full size boarders

also never had a claim. So can't really speak for how good they are
