I was curious, so did a search on "feeding miniature horses" to see what I might find. There were quite a few hits, although many were repeats, or different websites siting the same information. Just thought I'd share.

Here's the first link:

http://www.ker.com/library/equinereview/n08.pdf

I didn't click on them all, several appear to be links to farm websites with feeding pages.

One from Australia: http://www.kingstons.net.au/category60_1.htm

One from The Horse: http://www.thehorse.com/viewarticle.aspx?ID=659 Like all articles from The Horse, you need to be a member, but I'm pretty sure its free. [seems to be a general article about minis with a little bit of nutrition info.]

Here's one from the AAEP: http://www.aaep.org/health_articles_view.php?id=306 [More on the lines of general info.]

I havnt read the articles yet , but will when I have a momen . From my personal expierence of living in 2 different countries with horses, I have to say the care of animals seems to be based on a cultural difference of oppinion. The thought is here that if the hay is good there is no reason to add grain or anything else to the hay. They also believe that dry bread , gives enough minerals that a horse needs.....Its not what I do , its what the farmers do in this region. This is not up for argument , its just a different practice , I am not asking if its right or wrong , just saying what they do here , and the horses all look very nice .
