20 to 12 gauge wire does that mean you can't use the polytape?

Than you

The poly tape should have a gauge rating on it........20 gauge is going to be a very fine wire similar to the one used in most of the poly tape/ropes......12 gauge is pretty heavy duty more the high tensile end of wire

The heavier the wire the stronger the jolt will be. If light weight wires are used the power loss will be higher. Since many minis are kept in realativly small pastures the voltage loss will be minimal Most fencers are built to run fences measured by the mile not by the acre or portion of. A good ground well buried (especially in northern climates) is as important as the wire used for the fencing.
