You know that foal mouthy behavior when the open & close their mouth? As if they are saying Im no threat, I don’t cause any harm, I’m a baby! Well all my little boys have done that in the past from time to time. My new filly has NEVER done that! Even when she comes nose to nose with my HUGE, very dominant, total Alpha biggie. So I was wondering is the mouthy baby thing just a colt thing? Or do fillies do it too? This is my first mini filly. I had a mare at one point who was 5 and she didn’t do it either, but she was older. Just curious of y’all’s experience.

I think it's a baby thing in general. My homebred filly did it. It was funny to watch her, who was 28", and my yearling gelding who was 35", baby mouth at each other. Such a huge size difference but both babies! With that being said, I haven't seen the more dominant babies do it, so I think you are looking at your new herd leader! Lol
