We have just been out of the loop too long!!! Feels like we are stuck in time while the rest of the world passes us by. This is the first chance I have had to check in (we just got our phones back about an hour ago). We lost our home we were renting and the horses paddock behind it. Our horses are currently in DeRidder, La. and I am missing them terribly. Here is a picture of the trailer we were renting (my cousin's trailer). We lost all our furniture and everything. Sorry to bring it back up after so long, but I really need a pick me up... we miss our little guys soooo much...

Makes me cry all over again for those of you who went through that horrific experience.

I'm soooooo glad you are all alright. Sorry you have to be away from the horses, but glad they were ok, too.

Here's a big cyber hug and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers to get your life back in order as quickly as possible.

So sorry this had to happen but , as a window closes, so a door opens, you might look back on this in years to come and say, "If that had not happened, we would not be herenow.

Wow - how devastating!

Hope you get a new place to live soon - and are back with your horses etc..

Thanks so much for all the thoughts and prayers. When I wrote before I hope I didn't sound too "Woe is me...". I really don't mean too. It is pretty overwhelming, BUT... EVERYONE in my family IS o.k. as are all the horses, dogs, cats, etc... (though we did have one loss... our rabbit as we were stuck in traffic 4 1/2 hours trying to evacuate... 4 1/2 hours to go about 50 miles... and NOT NEAR FAR ENOUGH NORTH...lol... she over heated

). Those those other things that we lost are all replaceable. My little boy was sad that is bed and potty were broke (he's two), but both have happily been replaced. As for what we will be doing for living arrangments, we are currently staying with my grandmother who only suffered some shingle and fence damage, but nothing major. We have 4.5 acres we were working on to start building, but Rita pretty much took care of all the trees out there, so now we are on a list waiting for the Dozer man. Through it all though, I must say God is truly good... like I said before, my family is together, and all the things that were non-replaceable were spared. That evening after the hurricane had passed, I stepped outside and took a few pictures. I have never seen the sky so crystal blue... like the sky was cleansed. The camera didn't even really capture it, but here are a few of the pictures. Thanks again,

Chris

Brautiful pictures Chris. God bless you all.

Sorry for your losses, but as pointed out, your health and safety and that of your loved ones is the most important.

I've honestly got to say that I'm glad to be out of the hurricane area after 17 years of not being sure where this one (or the next one) will hit.

Good luck with getting settled in again.
