Oh he is just precious!!! I can see a faint pinkish tone to his hair coat...interesting color...but beautiful just the same. He's got some super long legs....bet he will be awesome to drive!

:aktion033: Handsome boy. Thanks for sharing.

Very striking little colt!

I think you are right, he sure looks silver buckskin, pretty color. What color was Mouse's sire?

I love his name too. :aktion033:

VERY nice colt!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! :aktion033:

Thanks everyone for the nice comments on him.

His name reflects a tribute to my nephew since he died just about the same time this guy was being born, and that is what Craig was doing that got him in trouble, bucking a hard Ebb tide on one of the most dangerous bars in the world...it also represents a bit of what his life was about, too, and also keeps the colt's daddy's name in there!

"Buck" as I've nicknamed him (oh how original) probably got his silver from mom. Sire has NO SILVER. Mouse, however, his sire was a smokey black (the following year we got a palomino from the same cross), and so it is Cherry Bomb hiding a silver gene (likely from her mother, Gramma Pony, who may in fact be a silver buckskin).

So yeah she is a silver chestnut (is there a test for that?) and though it's not expressed, it's there.

I will have fun taking him to shows in a few months when they start up. Will be odd to be at the first show of the year w/a weanie, he probably won't have a lot of competition until later in the year. Will be nice since he's for sale, though, to get him out and promote him.

Thanks for thinking of us....

Sure wish I had room for a baby, because LOOK at that trot!! :new_shocked: I love his name too Liz, it's much better than the ones I was coming up with in the same spirit. It's a great salute to Craig.

He is gorgeous, Liz! And his name is a wonderful tribute to Boots. (hmm...there's another nickname for the little guy if Buck doesn't stick...)

Does this mean you'll be bringing him to Boring? I'm already chompin' at the bit for that show, but the thought of seeing this baby will really have me on pins and needles!

Actually, Leia, it was yours that pretty much gave me the idea!

I just remembered hearing the term when the guys have to drive "uptown" along the river and the tide's running, they complain about having to "buck the tide"

Thanks for the nice compliments on him, too. His dad sure can move, too, so we'll see how he matures, it will be fun to watch. He sure is a little woolly bear that's why he looks so curly over his back, but he is not cold, either!

I have to try and get photos of him playing with his "mortal enemy" the hose. If he accidentally ends up near it w/out realizing it (it sneaks up, ya know), he sees it and goes bucking around, pawing and rearing at it. *LOL*
