Last night we had a doozy of a thunderstorm. All of Southwest Ontario and on through Toronto got hit with some pretty intense storms. The lightening was non-stop; it felt like armageddon, I swear. I came in from the barn after night check/feed and was amazed that I wasn't hit

Ten minutes later Kev comes in the house shouting "There's a Fire!". My first thought was the horses and dogs. I freaked out! We go out and the round-shed is ablaze. It's about 30 feet from the main barn and the wind was blowing away from the barn...Thank God!!!! The fire trucks seemed to take forever. But we must have had around 20 firemen here. The only thing of real value in there was our 25 foot Baja. It took a while to get the fire under control, but all is well now. People and animals are unscathed

I actually checked on the animals throughout and they were obliviously munching on hay/kibble lol. I can't tell you how lucky I feel that it wasn't the main barn that was hit with lightening. We had just put hay up there and fresh straw...It would have gone up in minutes.

Matt We had the same storm here, it was dreadful, the power kept going out. You were so lucky it wasn't the horse barn, your guardian angel must have been looking after you.

i am sorry for your ordeal, lucky everyone is okay, i know that smell well, my grandma's house went up in flames and then our ranch home went up in smoke. that smell and feeling of not being able to do anything is horrible. thank goodness you are all safe.

Oh my goodness Matt!!! That was a close call!!!!

Yep, storms here last night too...actually ALL day yesterday!! Our hydro was out for 2 1/2 hours over the noon hour. Found out today that lightning struck close to the big horse barn I work at and took out one of their phones and their modem!!!! Thankfully that looks like all it hit.

There were some rumblers off to the southwest again this afternoon....thought we were going to get something, but it never got up this far, just dark and loud!!!

I'm not a big storm fan, unless I'm sitting on the deck watching the lightning far, FAR off in the distance at night time!

Glad to hear no one was hurt!!!

Oh I am so sorry for the loss of the material stuff but thankful you and your babies are safe

That is very frightening looking!!! Thank goodness all the animals are ok and nothing else got hit.

That was one big storm by the sounds of it. You guys were very lucky.

So glad to hear you guys and your horses weren't hurt. But that must have been awful going through that. We were showing in Drayton. In the morning it was overcast, dark and you could hear thunder rumbling. Around 11 quite a downpour occured during hubby and Duke's turn in the ring. They got totally soaked and poor Duke who is only a yearling was not enjoying it at all. But when they were finished so was the rain.

But it was wickedly hot and humid afterwards. We were all pretty exhausted last night but we did drive through some wicked rain and thunder and lightning going home.

Oh Matt!!!

We have shared the same storms with you and they have been doozeys! I am so glad you and the furkids and homes are fine. Fire is terrifying.....stay safe..warm hugs.

Oh my gosh, that must have scared you to death. I'm sorry it hit your place at all, but thank God it didn't hit the horse barn. I'm so glad it wasn't any worse.

How scary !! Glad the horses were ok and hope there is insurance to cover the damage.

What a close call, glad everyone is okay. We need rain desparately down here but that part I can do without. Those intense lightening storms always get my attention.

We had storms coming and going around here.

Hubby stayed up Sunday night and said it was awful, the lightning and thunder where so close.

Where we used to bored our horse years ago in Kitchener called (Pride Stables), they got hit and lost 3 horses, out in pasture.

So glad to hear you and your animals are safe.

Oh my!!! I'm glad all the living critters weren't involved. That really could have had a different outcome. Perhaps a lottery ticket is in order.

Oh how scary. It's the time of year where I hesitate to ever leave home and I watch radar a LOT to know when those horses need to get it. Lightning--powerful stuff. So glad everyone is safe--the other stuff can be replaced.

What a terrifing night that must have been. For sure a night mare for you to have to go threw that. How horrifying. I am so glad to hear that all animals and you all are alright.

Glad to hear that you have insurance, that will help.

Joyce

Wow Matt! That would have freaked me right out. I am just thankful that all of your animals are OK!
