Been at my new job for 2 days,,, part of the management team at Rural King. For those who do not have one, it is like a TSC but is larger per square foot. Most Rural Kings went around and bought bigger stores already there, that had closed, such as K-Mart Buildings.

My legs are screaming at me to go back to a desk job, but my mind is trying to tell them different. I have worked 19 hours in 2 days, and am on my feet the entrie time, cement floor with tile. I did know I'd be walking around a ton, I would guess about 1,200 miles a night, so I had already invested in good, comfy shoes. If I hadn't, I'd guess I'd be crawling at this point.

I was to only work 8 hours each day, but due to some staff shortages, I got thrown into several things not planned on yet at this point. That was really ok,,,,,,learn quicker that way. I was not planned to do all reports at closing for another 2 weeks,,,,I did that last night. Was not to be making management decisions for 30 days,,,,,was told to do several last night and before I knew it,,,,,was told just to handle it. That is also what led to me do all reports last night.

I do have tomorrow off,,,,,,,next day off,,,,,,,,,a week from Monday!!!! I have been told maybe I should have played stupid for at least a few days.

People are great, all have been extremely helpful. Even with all the walking, not so much like work. I'm getting to play in my favorite store and getting paid for it! Plus, got grain last night,,,,,and I save $9.13, just on my grain. Can't wait to need to some big stuff!

Still need to do adjustment on working so much in the afternoon,,,,,go in at Noon, get off between 9:30 and 11:00,,,,,when all is done. Good part, they make management take their supper hour, no exceptions,,,,I guess too many worked through supper and got cranky, so they now make them,,,,,,,and with only being 4 miles away,,,,,I am feeding horses at the same time they were use to, when I take supper. I just do most of the work in the mornings now.

Still not sure of all the hours and the afternoon thing,,,,,but so far,,,,pretty good!

ooohhh been there done that walking thing ended up with cortizone shots in the foot, owwie. Just make sure every six months replace your walking tennis shoes with another good pair. Sounds like you are just what they wanted.

Hey if they have a lot of feed they need to sell due to busted bags and discounted let me know.

: With 30 to feed every little bit helps.

Good luck at your new job.

I would suggest looking into some support hose too. It sounds like things are going pretty well for you and they are certainly keeping you busy!
