He is soooo cute!

I'd guess him to be dark buckskin.

Congrats and getting him to pull thru!

Since his head is so much darker than his body -- I'm betting when he's older you will see webbing on his face -- so I would say he's either a grullo or a sooty dunskin.

Thanks so much everyone

: Well...I guess I'll just have to clip him once it's warmer...and see if we have any other dun characteristics under the baby fuzz :bgrin The vet was out tonight and happy with how he's doing. She did put him on antibiotics as a precaution...and we should have our test results tomorrow...so I think everything will be OK.

Thanks again for letting me share!

Congratulations!! I don't know what color he'll end up......but I love him!

Cute foal, so glad everything is OK now.

He is a Dunskin- Buckskin/Dun.

Possibly with Sooty, possibly not, baby markings are no indication and clipping just makes it worse- when you clip him chances are he will look very dark, leading you to believe he is Grullo.

The coat will come back in a completely different colour, I can assure you.

"CONGRATULATIONS!" on your new little man! He is just adorable!

We had a similar experience last week with a filly born outside in freezing temperature. She was foaled at 306 days by an experienced mare who has had 5 previous foals all born around 326-327 days. I felt terrible because I didn't even have her in the barn. Goes to show a person NEVER knows how unpredictable these precious little mares can be.

When I found the filly, her little ears were all frosted and she was ice cold and standing there shivering. I was so afraid that I would lose her. I did the same as you and dried/warmed her up with a hair dryer, blankets, heater and milked the mare and syringed around 18cc of colostrum into her.

She is now 10 days old and definitely has a little attitude-I really think that strong desire to live and that little attitude is what has helped her to survive.

Love your name choice Causin' a Commotion!!
