Thank you everyone! Glad you like him. Being the only foal right now, he is getting a lot of attention. Every time I see him I just want to pick him up and squeezzzze him! :bgrin I am thinking that he will most likely be a dark buckskin. I had a filly born 2 years ago that was born with the same buckskin coloring (black undertone) and she turned out to be a smutty colored buckskin. But that's okay, they still have that dilute gene!

: He'll definitely make someone a nice halter prospect.

Oh my gosh, what a handsome boy and a great way to start your foaling season! I'm in love

Karin, the reason I said I thought he will grey like his sire, is because of his vibrant color at birth. Normally, the foals in that color(and bay etc.) will have the cream colored legs at birth, and the black is underneath. It is said that when they are born with color like that, they will grey. When I looked up his sire, and saw he too is grey, it confirmed my suspicions. BUT, that said, this is one case where I hope I am TOTALLY wrong, as he is GORGEOUS in that color!

: Some of the gals more "into" researching color, can probably explain it better. He truely is a GORGEOUS little colt!!

Mona - you are right. Many of the foals that are born with "vibrant" coloring tend to turn grey. I have had two foals that had that gorgeous rich bay color and ended up carrying the grey gene. His dam has very dark points. I'm hoping that he doesn't turn grey, but regardless, I think he will still be a nice show colt. If he is carrying the grey gene it will begin to show before he is weaned. Hmmm, a grey with a dilute gene? That would be interesting.
